I have handled two snaked this week.
One in house in Virginia that just had contract work done. 4 feet + long (know because the bathroom tile pattern is 12" x 12") and the other at work because he was hanging around the entrance freaking out the employees leaving for the day. Both were Black Rat snakes and I made damn sure to identify them. The easiest way to deal with a non venomous snake it to tail them. Once you pick up your first snake it gets easier every time. Rat snakes are about the most chill snakes you can deal with. |

Personally I would probably try to kill it, gut and skin it before cooking it.

Had a nest of rats in mine, turned the gas on high and lit; opened the lid after about ten minutes and had flaming/smoking rats unassing that fucker, was like a horror movie.
