I'm just a few miles from the epicenter. House shook quite a bit and the children took shelter under a table. Rain is still moderate.

Basically it rained here in San Diego. The only thing out of the ordinary was the time of year.

Wind is supposed to ramp up to about 20 gusting to 35 in O’side coming out of the south.
Looks pretty calm still on my doorbell cam. .65” of rain today. 1.75” forecasted. |

I have a house in Eastlake in CV, and one in South Park in SD. Eastlake looks kind of like Rancho Barnyardo. |

Wind has picked up a little here in TJ but so far this seems pretty tame.

Finally getting some wind, it feels like an actual tropical storm.
I've turned on the A/C and poured my first martini to properly prepare. |

A typical San Diego winter storm is worse than this. I am disappoint.

we had stronger than normal rain for maybe 30 minutes today sometime around 4-5pm. other than that standard light rain. no real wind thank god. the harbor freight tarp is still on the roof.

So far no doom and gloom.
This storm is rater mild compared to the start of winter |

No rain in Vegas since early morning, didn't even feel any shacking. Hilary sucks.

Quoted: This. View Quote I should clarify, I wasn’t hoping for death and destruction, I just really love storms. San Diego weather is fucking boring. I miss the thunderstorms of Spokane. I’ve lived here almost 20 years and in that time I think there have been 4-5 brief thunderstorms. I was hoping for some real weather here. |

well now you all know what it is like to experience an afternoon storm here in Louisiana

View Quote NBC was outside the Linq garage reporting on the water going through it, into the culvert there this morning. It was semi-impressive. Norma Geli was live streaming there about an hour ago, same spot. Not very impressive flow. ??First Hurricane in Las Vegas?? ??? |

Wonder if CA will pay or house those that lost their tents and pallet shacks in local hotels.

Quoted: wtf, how does a little bit of water on the road make that many cars lose control in the same spot? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: wtf, how does a little bit of water on the road make that many cars lose control in the same spot? Wide tires with no tread left hydroplane easily. Add drivers not used to driving on wet roads. Add drivers looking at cellphone instead of the road. |
|
View Quote Geez it's like they don't even put a grade on the road so the water flows to the edges. Notice the idiot with the flashers on in the rain that should have been to the more right lanes that caused another car to brake and then caused the chain reaction for everyone else. They were driving pretty fast for the rain though if there was enough water coverage to hydroplane. |

View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: wtf, how does a little bit of water on the road make that many cars lose control in the same spot? Areas that typically don't get a lot of rain tend to not build roads around shedding water. Looks like a bad spot that pooled water and caused people to hydroplane. They also love their road reflectors which isn't something that is done around here. Plows would pop them off the first snow of the year. |

CA has never been known for adding drainage to highways when building them.
Californians aren't known for slowing down when it starts raining either! The carpool and fastlane are known for flooding when it rains, yet people still try doing 90 mph there. |

Smoke N' Scan is chasing the raindrops.
Come watch nothing ! |

Because they have zero experience at all with driving in heavy rain, and don't know how to tell when they're about to start hydroplaning. |

View Quote Good old yuppie slip and slide. Back when I lived in LA, whenever the first rain storm of the year hit, it would turn into chaos as every jackass in a SUV would wipe out after doing 80+ on a slick freeway and then slamming on their brakes. Also, since SoCal gets so little rain, the oil on the freeways tends to build up and once you get a decent rain storm the freeways get a lot slicker compared to normal. |

I am in the San Gabriel Valley, 10 mile east of L.A., and I am 3 miles from the San Gabriel Mtns, so far, lots of rain but no wind, though an occasional breeze from ~10-15mph. So far, so good; I am unscathed, a bit water logged.

The death toll could be in the thousands. Prayers for our brothers in California .
