Had a spare plastic bin that wasn't in the best shape and a corner in my garage full of old boards and other odds and ends. A few minutes with a jig saw and shop vac, and bam, perfection.
 Thought someone else might like to use this idea. It works better than I expected. I plan on building a stand to set it on that will let me fit some other bins underneath it.

I'm gonna brace for some jokes and say I painted the sights on the second slide for my carry gun, so I'm sure your invention is fine.

Its cleaner than my current setup but I've got alot more "scraps". I have a spot for larger sheets of wood, a trash can for dimensional lumber, a extra large tote on a dolly under a bench for small cuts of plywood or wider dimensional, then a large tote for smaller scraps.
Everytime I burn a brush pile I cull out any scraps that are not worth saving instead of filling up the trash bin. |

A slot rack made from scrap wood would be a lot more durable and stable, but if you've got a garbage plastic tote anyway, why not?

I think some welded wire mesh would do that quite nicely, and would last more than a week or two.

At first look I thought it was an overhead contraption and was trying to figure out how that would be a good idea.
Then I got my orientation correct. Yeah, cool idea. I keep all the same "scraps" as well. Has saved me many a trip to town or cutting an 8 inch section off a perfectly good 2x4.

Necessity is the mother of invention.
I designed 2 tools for roofing that Last I checked have not been made by any one else. One make it possible to hang 20+ foot barge rafters by yourself, when it's normally a 2 person job. The other is for hanging facia boards by yourself. Both take seconds to apply and remove |
