You obviously have no clue. They're called bumper plates.

Funny thing about all the globo-bros talking shit about crossfit is 99% of them would get their asses handed to them in any given wod by any average crossfit gym's top females.

Why can't you just say workout? Do you have to do penance for using the wrong non-cult approved terminology? 10 burpees and then lick the toes sweat from your high priest trainers feet? Crossfit's top females have more testosterone than I do, because they are injecting. Or do you think women get 17" arms, 18" necks, and 30" legs naturally? lol

Yup, pretty tough to run, box jumps, muscle ups, etc when you're that big.  And I'm not even a crossfitter and I can see that.  I don't quite understand the premise of the argument.  Crossfit is bad because the girls have too much muscle but the guys aren't strong like powerlifters.  It's a cult because the girls all look like they are on steroids, they should be more like powelifters instead....  It's all a cult, you just can't tell because you're too busy being too strong for a girl and not strong enough for a guy to realize that all a person should ever do is bench press.

Because 34" muscle guts are common on women who produce estrogen. Surely not HGH related.

Its never the women making a fortune on media photoshoots and competitions that are using the PEDs. Its always someone else.

steinhab,

He means the top housewives you will find in any neighborhood crossfit gym, not the serious competitors.

They will outlift you, outrun you and do more dead hang pull ups and push ups than you can, then go pick up their kid from soccer practice.

At this moment? Maybe, after my recent health issues I'm very out of shape, only recently even had the ability to go back to the gym and then its been a very slow process where I can never overdue it. But in my prime, when I was just a Marine or Soldier who did unit PT every day, no fucking way were those soccer mom's stronger than me, not unless they were juiciing. People still dont' get the whole estrogen/testosterone thing. No women is going to be knocking out 20 dead hangs without either a decade of extremely tough training, or some pharma help. Show me soccer mom's knocking out 20+ good pullups and not disjusting jerk ups, I'd like to see this.

Whatever her arm measurements are they are unnaturally big, meaning she's juicing. Considering she's using them simply to get better at exercising so she can compete at exercising, and that they are trying to act as if they are bad asses because they are good at exercising, I don't think its good for them, its blatant cheating, completely against the very point of even doing the "sport" in the first place.

its a community building fitness club.

some gyms have bad trainers but most are very good. ( i travel a lot and have been to over 30+ crossfit gyms).

all in all, it brings people together and motivates people to become better in health and fitness.

i think its great and i have seen lots of otherwise overweight people have had tremendous life changes through this process.

weightlifters don't like crossfit, gymnasts don't like crossfit, Runners don't like crossfit, personal trainers don't like crosfit.

nobody likes crossfit, because crossfit draws more attention to fitness than their little area of people, and they hate that people will cheer for an overweight person doing substandard body movements but wont cheer for them when they hit some big complex maneuver.

Do you drink coffee?  If so, you are a hypocrite.  Coffee is a stimulant and performance enhancing, you've just decided that your personal threshold for what should be allowed as performance enhancing is applicable for everyone.  Cheating?  Maybe, depending on the rules and if they are working in conjunction with them or avoiding them.  There are lots and lots of ways to improve performance without cheating, which, like gun control makes the entire regulation pretty pointless.  Suddenly part of the game becomes what performance enhancement you can do in addition to physical performance.

Unequivocally, strongman and powerlifting are way more dangerous than crossfit.  Not even close.  Especially strongman.

Crossfit is a challenge.  It will test your engine and show you how much of a pussy you are.  You have to develop strength, stamina and skill.  It ain't easy.

You have to realize something man.  A woman like her or any woman who is even a little muscular or fit represents a threat to most men's masculinity.    Most men view women as something that should be "soft"  "feminine" which to me is just another way of saying easily controlled and dominated.     If a woman appears "strong" through a fit body then it gives off the vibe that she is probably strong "mentally" also.   Most men by their very nature like "docile" women.    Its that simple.   I'm a hardcore lifter.  I weigh 280 and squat and deadlift over 600lbs.    So fit chicks to me are just fine.  Can a woman take it too far?  Of course.  But that's only when drugs get involved.

Better than people who were gay shorts and knee high socks, who mix in poorly performed oly lifts with calisthenics done with shtity form, who then try to say its all about explosive power when people make fun of their shitty form. If you were doing those exercises for record in any form of realistic gauge the counter would be saying "Zero, zero, zero, one, one, one, one, one, one, one, one, one, two, three, three, three..." because form means nothing when quantity is the end state goal.

The reality is that I'm not even big into working out at all anymore in any type, I go to the gym 3 times a week and go for walk a few times a week. I just like making fun of crossfitters because they are like retarded people but we're still allowed to rip on them. Such easy targets because you make yourselves thus by acting like you invented exercise when in reality you're an exercise cult, led by a really smart CEO who knew how to market a workout fad, who constantly post your record workouts on facebook and youtube for us to laugh at, because your personal best snatch wouldn't qualify you for the special olympics and you did it with terrible form. You're the Aerobics Class of the Millennial generation.

No, a tatted up freak with a fucked up haircut loaded on enough HGH to square her jam doing deadlifts is not sexy. Its fucking disgusting. Goes to show, a gay man (you are gay, correct?) finds this woman attractive, there must be something unique about her.

Don't hold your breath. Know why? Because even if I ever attempted to do that exercise (which I don't because I fucking hate standardized European exercises designed by committee), I know I'm not the center of the earth and thus don't feel the need to post videos of me exercising on the internet for validation. Working out and hashtags don't go together in my book.

It's no shock to anyone that you're a former marine.

It's a different workout. Christ. Thinking not required with you...

They even have bigger weights, that weigh less to make you look "stronger".

Crossfit is about as cool as a handjob on a honeymoon.

?????

Are you talking about rubberized barbells? They're so you can drop them without damage, and they're sure as shit not exclusive to crossfit.  Have you never seen a gym with olympic weight lifting?

There are douchebags involved in every activity.  You choose to judge the activity by looking at them rather than the good examples.  The legit CF guys are legit lifters.  The guy who won last year and isn't even that big.  Yet you can see a video of him front squatting 340 something, off the ground, for reps.  Many of them snatch over 300#.  If you don't know how bad ass that is, then you are talking out of your lane.  The really impressive thing is the conditioning.  Go try some of what they do and you will understand.  It is way, way harder than it looks.  "CF" is way bigger than "CrossFit" the brand.  You do understand that there are way more competitions outside of the "CF Games" that have nothing to do with the brand?

Yeah, I'm sure kipping pull ups is for your heart rate. Lol, I love reading you cultist who focus on cheating exercise. And i don't care how good shape you are, keep doing fucked up pullups, you deserve all the scorn. Especially being a former Marine...

Its not though. You thinking its a different workout is lying to yourself. Crossfitters didn't suddenly start doing fucked up pullups and suddenly deciding that using momentum by swinging your legs builds core strength, or that moving arms with momentum is a good cardio work out. Crossfit is based off repetitions x time. Whoever does the most calisthenics faster wins and gets the glory. Cheating is encouraged, because you're not actually exercising to get stronger, by doing it the hard way, you're using technique to use more weight and more reps by cheating the physics.

Here's the founder of crossfit bullshitting about pullups and why cheating is okay, even though he never actually explains the point: The Kipping Pullup

Because he knows he's full of shit and is trying to explain away why he created a franchise that markets a pullup that doesn't do what a pullup is supposed to do, strengthen the back and arms. He even uses plyometric, without realizing to gain power means activating muscles, which aren't being used because you're using momentum, not strength, to get over the bar.

Do you do jump training? Imagine adding a trampoline, or using a running start. Kind of defeats the point right? Kipping pullups, and myriad other exercises Crossfitters do and brag about, its the same thing.

Thats not a 17" arm. Have you seen a 17" arm on an athlete? Im not denying that some of the women juice. Good for them if its helping them kick ass at what they want to do.

You stand that women next to me she wont look like she has 17" arms.

No, a tatted up freak with a fucked up haircut loaded on enough HGH to square her jam doing deadlifts is not sexy. Its fucking disgusting. Goes to show, a gay man (you are gay, correct?) finds this woman attractive, there must be something unique about her.

I don't find her sexually attractive, if that's what you're implying.

But her hard work and the fact that she holds fucking records in her weight class as an international level athlete is itself sexy as fuck.

Feeling emasculated?

It's always guys like you that immediately go "OMG HGH! ROIDZ!" as if that completely negates YEARS of hard work and struggle to succeed in the sport. What are YOUR accomplishments on the platform?

I'll be waiting.

Those top end competitors would have excelled at any form of exercise. If this was 400 BC, they'd be lifting great big boulders off the ground and then carving shit on them to brag "Bybon, son of..., threw me over his head with one hand" (350 lb rock), instead of posting it on facebook or twitter. Crossfit isn't why they are strong, its just the current means or "sport" in which they test themselves or train. Next decade it will have another name and those same people, or same type of people, they'll still be beasts.

So it's just that they are doing things you don't like?

I'm not doing crossfit, but I do try to mix lifting weights with high intensity cardio and even oly weights.  Why would I do that as a 40yo engineer?  I have no chance of getting into any games or winning any money in a competition, but I like it.  I've learned how to do olympic lifts in a moderately respectable manner and I think they are fun.  I do lots and lots of other lifting too, but I'll never be a competitive powerlifter either.  Nor do I insult the gym bros that hang out on the cable machines doing lots of stupid exercises with no purpose or structure to their 'training', just hours and hours a week spinning their wheels doing silly workouts.  Far more ridiculous that even the lamest crossfit programming.

Having said that, I've never had a facebook account, never done twitter and don't care if I never snatch 300lbs (although my personal goal is to snatch 200lbs).  I do it for fun and health, like probably 99% of crossfitters.

But just because I think the bench press is a stupid lift and rarely do it, doesn't mean I rip on someone for being dedicated to it and trying to get as good as they can.  So I just don't understand your constant weak arguments and edgy 'cultist' name-calling.  It's people doing what they want, and sometimes getting hurt.  So what.  I hurt my shoulder doing pushups long before I started doing oplymic lifts, stuff happens.

So whatever.  You are sounding like an overzealous maniac, just as you accuse crossfitters of being.

I googled her, found picks of her deadlifting. I guess technically she is still a she, even though she has a square jaw after all the PED reshaped her bone structure. I'm sure tucked away in her gym shorts she taped down her clinis. My accomplishments is I didn't turn myself into a disgusting freak on the internet using ink, roids, HGH, and a camera phone.

See that stomach skin from knocking out some kids and then losing weight? That face? Eyebrows look like a bad sharpie incident. That jaw and cheek bones popping out? That shaved head and tattoo job that screams out "My dad touched me when I was young but I'm okay with it because I can curl a lot"? Absolutely. Fucking. Disgusting.

You have no idea what you're talking about.  The greatest CFitter ever, Rich Froning, was like a mediocre baseball player IIRC.  And a fireman.  Yet he is a genetic monster at metabolic conditioning and has been dominant in competitive CF.  It's all about your engine.  Your engine must be trained and developed over a long period of time.  And not just with jogging.  Conditioning with a barbell or other strength movements is a completely different animal.  Most of these guys would not be top oly weight lifters.  Too short for strongman.  Too weak for powerlifting.  Nor professional sports because they're too short.  But they're just right for CF.

I don't understand what mentioning how much you can lift has anything to do with your statement?  Or your weight (sounds chubby) not to mention no height included (shame shame).  Seems it must be hard to lift in your white knight armor.

Sadly your argument was quiet good if you could have left the part about yourself out.

Are you not understanding yet? Even you said he's a genetic monster. So what if he got into that shit late in life. He could have gotten into bodybuilding. Or Powerlifting, or anything, and he would have excelled. He might not have been the best, but best is subjective. What is crossfit? Its mixed calisthenics that have been around for a hundred years, with some plyometrics, some oly lifts, some powerlifts, some other assorted weird shit from Russian and Turkey, all done for time. Its not some magical workout. Its just working out.

The part of crossfit people rip on isn't the good stuff, its the retardation, the constant bragging, the nonstop posts on social media, defending retarded exercises involving kipping, or all the new jargon which was part of the crossfit business model. It absolutely fits the definition of cult: a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing. Cults are funny. Cultists are funny. People whose lives evolve around exercising in general are funny.

They should just do bench presses like a real man.  They are just using momentum, there's no real strength involved in that.

For gymnasts, pullups are a way of getting up to the bar to do their routines. In Crossfit, the goal of the exercise is to get good at exercising. If the exercise is about brute strength, how is using momentum or mastering form to get more weight up, or more reps, not essentially cheating.

This is where I'm coming from. Watch a video of early Olympic weightlifting videos, those guys were using brute force to get those weights up because they didn't master technique, they didn't have coaches who became popular teaching methods to get around hurdles, to get max weight with minimum effort. If it was baseball, or football, or something else, a sport where the mind is just as much a component as the body, I'd be all for it. But sports designed around exercising are cheating themselves by using those techniques. Kipping is to pullups what knee wraps are to squats. They defeat the whole purpose of doing the exercise and competing, which is to find out who is the strongest, who is the best true athlete, not who is the best coached.

I need to invest in HGH to jump start my come back.

By the way, I see the little gymnastics girls do kipping pullups all the time.  It seems that kipping makes it easier to do more pullups, as well as to muscle up onto a bar.

No, kipping is like leg drive on an overhead press.  In other words, a push press.  Knee wraps have no correlation to kipping.  I often see the little gymnasts doing max reps pullups.  They do kip to get as many as possible.  Though their kip is a little different.  They bring their legs high, then their bodies follow.  I tried it.  Is fucking hard.

You may know a lot about a lot of things.  But you really don't know shit about strength or fitness.  That's okay.  We can't be experts at everything.

No, a tatted up freak with a fucked up haircut loaded on enough HGH to square her jam doing deadlifts is not sexy. Its fucking disgusting. Goes to show, a gay man (you are gay, correct?) finds this woman attractive, there must be something unique about her.

Lol, bull shit.

This is the chick that owns the gym that our last USPA meet was at. She's a fucking BEAST, and a world class lifter.

Tell me that that's not fucking sexy.

Why can't you just say workout? Do you have to do penance for using the wrong non-cult approved terminology? 10 burpees and then lick the toes sweat from your high priest trainers feet? Crossfit's top females have more testosterone than I do, because they are injecting. Or do you think women get 17" arms, 18" necks, and 30" legs naturally? lol

You obviously have no clue. They're called bumper plates.

Funny thing about all the globo-bros talking shit about crossfit is 99% of them would get their asses handed to them in any given wod by any average crossfit gym's top females.

I was a judge at the Southeast regionals a few years ago, and can tell you first hand none of the female competitors were anywhere near your description.  Most were just slightly above average height but shredded.

Honest question, I've been looking into this to repair my shoulder that has hurt for nearly 3 years now.  Do you know much about it?

Two conclusions:

Crossfit is weird and a sure way to rotator cuff surgery

and

I need to invest in HGH to jump start my come back.

Just no.  Have you been to a good shoulder specialist?

Didn't read the whole thread because well...it's likely a bunch of haters who don't understand.

CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity, with the intent to increase work capacity across broad time and modal domains.

People crying about kipping pull ups...Strict pull ups have their place, but most people can't whip out 45 dead hang pull ups with any intensity, especially when mixed in with other movements. The idea isn't to cheat, but add a level of intensity to the movement.

ETA: I will add that any gym that allows clients to load a barbell or movement before the movement is good and consistent, is not a good gym. Virtuosity has been somewhat lost with the increased popularity of crossfit. http://journal.crossfit.com/2005/08/virtuosity-1.tpl

Oh, I see.

You want to compare yourself at 18 years old to a 43 year old soccer mom now.

The problem is.... "now" is when you're doing all the talking.

At least it's been agreed that the person whose mouth is writing the biggest checks has no ability to cash them.

Yes, xrays and MRIs of the shoulder too.  'Just a rotator cuff...' three years ago.  Did all the physical therapy and in fact I still do the stretches and strengthening regimen three days a week.

Do you have experience with HGH?  I've read some good reports of it (medical journals, not 'roid bros).

People anecdotally claim success, but http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23636184

Seems like a strange study.  14 days on HGH and no positive results?  That doesn't seem abnormal at all, if they had studies of 3 months on HGH it would be more meaningful.  I found several interesting papers on that website siting good regenerative effects of connective tissue and nerves, I'm really interested in both.

Yeah, I'm sure kipping pull ups is for your heart rate. Lol, I love reading you cultist who focus on cheating exercise. And i don't care how good shape you are, keep doing fucked up pullups, you deserve all the scorn. Especially being a former Marine...

It's no shock to anyone that you're a former marine.

"You're not doing it exactly the way I used to do it so it's cheating!"

It's a different workout. Christ. Thinking not required with you...

????

I can't even follow why you're so invested on hating something you clearly don't even understand.  It is entirely a different workout. It has a different motion, and it works different parts of the body in a different way than a dead hang pullup does.

This is seriously, literally, by definition, a different workout. And it is exercising to get stronger.  Hence why people in Crossfit get stronger.

You do understand that crossfit uses kipping pullups and dead hang pullups differently in different workouts, right? Dead hang pullups are also a part of crossfit workouts.

You're not making yourself look like a badass by saying "well they're not doing real pullups like I did them back in mah grunt days!".  You're just making yourself look like an ass.
