It's a little hard to judge. Judges can look at it as strictly a fold out, or as the project itself I guess. Our bear rug also didn't have a ribbon. That was disappointing as well. But, artistically, a rug is not that impressive I guess. I'll get some photos of the show tomorrow. It was late and we are still waiting to feed kids tonight at 8pm.  |

Update 4/22
I was informed this morning by the Vice President of Wyoming Secondary Art Educators that the colleges and some of the other WSAE Art teachers from around the state of Wyoming are not happy with the taxidermy pieces we bring to the show. Apparently they feel it does not meet the state standards for Art. In their minds it is not art. This will be the probably be the last Symposium Powell High School attends for a while. 
I was not told we couldn't come, just that taxidermy might be charged more to show, or not allowed. They also don't want woodworking or welding projects. |

We also have a Powell High Panthers here, funny coincidence. I haven't kept up with this thread, and it may have been said before, but what you're doing is brining together different groups of kids with different interests (art, science, mechanical engineering, etc.) and showing how they can work together to achieve something great. That's commendable, in my book. |

| That's a real shame. With all the bitching and moaning about .gov cutting funds for the arts, they're hamstringing themselves and being exclusive and telling students "your style of creativity isn't valid" at the same time. If they allowed all styles of art, they could show the vast amount of creativity and ability that's on tap. |

One of my student also was awarded with a Wyoming First Lady's award, and their sculpture will be displayed in the governor's residence for the next year.
Carol Mead is a first class gal. She also spent several minutes talking to one of my other students who wanted to meet her.

Last night's dinner at Sanford's in East Casper.
This is where we were inspired to start the projects like the Space Shuttle. Even last night it inspired the kids for new ideas for next year.

The "Not real Art" was very much appreciated by the owner of the black bear cape we salvaged into a rug for him. We dropped this off today on the way home. We pulled up in front of his house, bus, suburban and trailer.

TopMen was interviewed Friday, so it looks like next week the article in the paper will be out. 
We also had a slight hiccup in the program Friday. It didn't close once during the afternoon. After a diagnosis, it was probably similar to what happened before. The code will get another review just in case. We think it was, again, a timing issue. It has worked flawlessly since then. |

You should reach out to the media about the art snobs trying to push you out. I'd imagine artistic teenagers versus douchebag liberal art professors would be a story they would love to cover. Shame those bastards for their BS.
And beautiful work all around on their projects that stuffs awesome. |

We also have a plan. I'm going to order a wonderfull horse or zebra form for next year. We will decorate it with some kind of glass pattern, and add a unicorn horn along with our traditional driftwood and vegetation. We can make it outlandish and gaudy; maybe even a rainbow It will have everything but a skin.
The kids kept asking if I was serious... Yes I am. I'll probably order the form tomorrow, just to make sure I have no choice.

The door seam got attention today. We stated cleaning up the seam. Pieces went on and off, but I've got one of my chief engineers on it, and he was determined to make it right. He kept saying, "My name is on this, I want it right."
The all school art show it tomorrow night and parents usually walk through our hallways to get a peak at all the displays. Hopefully we will have it looking good by then. |
