"A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch 11 second-generation Orbcomm communications satellites. The satellites will operate for Orbcomm Inc., providing two-way data messaging services for global customers. The rocket will fly on a full-thrust version of the Falcon 9 rocket with upgraded Merlin 1D engines, stretched fuel tanks, and a payload fairing." Launch site: SLC-40, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida The following article has a lot of good information on this launch: SpaceX launch article "The third objective of Sunday’s flight — classified as purely experimental — will be to recover the Falcon 9’s booster stage a few minutes after liftoff, perhaps at a landing pad near the eastern tip of Cape Canaveral leased by SpaceX from the U.S. Air Force. SpaceX has not officially disclosed whether the rocket will head for the landing pad on the Florida coast or the company’s landing barge, or drone ship, positioned in the Atlantic Ocean." (Update below: It will be on land if attempted.) Update: From an earlier SpaceX launch there were multiple possible streaming video options. Those are posted below but I have not verified them. Try with adequate time before the launch to see which works for you. Webcast sites: SpaceX Space.com NASA TV http://dev.marshallbrekka.com/spacex.html Other possible viewing options: Ch 346 on DTV Dish Network channel 286 According to PalmettoSharpShooter: Just FYI: If you have Amazon Fire TV, there's a NASA app where you can watch live on the big screen Press kit: I have not found a press kit for this launch. A press kit for the first Orbcomm OG2 mission 1 launch in 2014 can be found below. It delivered the spacecraft into a 47 degree inclination orbit which means a northeasterly launch. If that is the same for the launch tomorrow, people north of Florida may have a chance to see it. Orbcomm OG2 Mission 1 press kit Press kit for this mission here |

I just looked at the spacex.com/webcast site and it looks good. When I read the additional information link I saw this:
"This mission also marks SpaceX’s return-to-flight as well as its first attempt to land a first stage on land." I hope that they are successful with all objectives. |
|
They are going to try and boost back the 1st stage to a land landing at the cape.

Go SpaceX!!!!
I hope it goes smooth. If the booster lands safely that would be A*W*E*S*O*M*E !! |

Launch delayed one day. Unknown reason. New launch time 833 PM EST.
Correction: I just read five minute launch window starting at 829 PM EST. |

Company I work for has about 130 valves on the Falcon 9.
Needless to say we'll all be watching very closely! |

They are showing pictures of the rocket now at the SpaceX website.

Here are some major events from the press kit (link in first post). What is interesting is the first stage landing ten minutes after launch.

I watched the fireworks last July right before we left on a cruise.....
Did this one make it? RIF: Apparently. |

I am glad the get to attempt the landing on land this time.
They have done it quit a bit in Texas, but not from an actual launch. |
|
Fingers crossed for a successful return to flight and delivery of payload to proper orbit! Admittedly the part I'm most excited about is the possibility of them sticking a landing, but I realize that's just icing on the cake.
Got a lot of friends who work for SpaceX in Hawthorne, those guys must be nervous as hell right now... |

No, that is the Delta IV integration building. The SpaceX launch complex is about 3 miles north of that Delta IV complex. |

This was a nice set of presentations on the payloads and upgraded rocket.

Very cool live broadcast on the SpaceX website. I suppose watching this is a little like what my parents felt like watching the Apollo launches.
Hope they succeed with all their objectives. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I wonder how many criminals government can make...?
What's the upper limit? |

They indicated that they should be able to show the first stage landing if all goes well. That occurs ten minutes after launch according to the schedule above.
