I had high hopes for this series, but the "human Spock" episode and now this one had me cancel Paramount. Just garbage.

I've never seen a man behave like that kid in real life. I can only assume these garbage writers are writing their beta male selves into these characters.

I sound like a Boomer but it's just so annoying.

I agree will Cullen.

Thats the LD/SNW crossover episode?  oof

Thats completely in character for boimler, but clearly showcases what a bad idea it is to mix live action with cartoons.  mightve been better if they went the roger rabbit route

Was mariner equally cringeworthy and out of place?

They appear to be retconned and fleshed out. In TOS "Arena" it was clear that the Federation had not previously encountered the Gorn.
This is one case where I'm OK with retconning.
Gorn, you scary.

I thought they both were spot-on for translating how their characters acted in the cartoon to how they would act in the "real" world. Jack Quaid even did the "Boimler Walk" when he was running away from Number One. It was fucking hilarious!

Am I over reacting to it? Was it meant for comic relief? I have never watched the cartoon.

You are overreacting to it. Both actors played their characters exactly like the cartoon... Lower Decks is pretty good, IMO.

Good to know, thank you. Not knowing that, I was like "WTF!?" when I was watching it.

Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks are the best of Trek, that includes DS9 and TOS and TNG.

Voyager is a snooze fest at best.

Alright I'm going to give Lower Decks a watch and a chance. Will at least make this last episode of SNW make sense.

"Those Old Scientists" is a Boimler phrase.

been catching up on strange new worlds - guess I should watch some more lower decks before the next episode to appreciate it.  While it has some woke aspects - it is 100% better than the commercials I have to endure during it.

LD took a little while to warm up. But honestly, it is good Trek. Hell, it is actually closer to real Trek than all the other shitthat has come out.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds | Animation To Live Action | Paramount+

Quaid talks about how he rewatched a lot of LD to get Boimler’s physical movements right.

Prolly a hallucinagenic alien phenonenon.  The last one where the characters were playing parts of the book M’Benga was reading to his daughter was quite good.

I'll just say:  Strange New Worlds needs to cut the bullshit and start fighting the Gorn. It's as if thousands of subscriptions to Paramount Plus cried out, and then were silenced.

Crossover episodes are one thing- Voyager started at DS9, and TNG and DS9 had a couple, so SNW and LD crossing over in both directions isn't unheard of

But its way too early in the series run to be doing weird shit like musical episodes.  Are they running out of ideas already?

I love leaving TOS on in the background when it's on Pluto TV.  I've rewatched a few of TNG and watched Voyager and Enterprise when they were broadcast, but I haven't rewatched them much.  I never got into DS9, even when it was on, didn't watch Discovery either.  The new SNW is ok, Picard S3 was great though. As far as the movies go, nothing will ever beat TWOK.  Just like a lot of these "re-imagining" that Hollywood likes to do, there is a ton of source material and books out there, you would think it would be simple to adapt some of them to the screen instead of reinventing the wheel.

Best series is DS9.

Best movie is Wrath of Khan, followed closely by Galaxy Quest.

Best book is Red Shirts by John Scalzi.
