The Rebels killed the Ewoks. If the Empire was sooooo oppressive as some claim. Then why didn't the Empire slaughter them when they built the Shield Generator? Why didn't they raze the forest and destroy the Ewok villages?

You want to know why? Because they understand the forests of Endor need to be protected and they even understood that the savage Ewoks need to be left alone.

No knocked down trees or clear fields of fire. No open landing sights. Instead, raised platforms to have a smaller environmental footprint.

Bright Village wasn't destroyed or knocked down by the Empire.

Hell, we did it to the blue space smurfs of Avatar.

But supposedly the Empire is bad.

As for enslaving the Wookies.... well. New Flash folks. They're like Chimps. They can be trained but they sure aren't smart.

For such a supposedly smart species. They sure are fucking stupid.

Even Admiral Ackbar saw that. But Chewie is all of his beast of burden stupidity fell right for it like a fucking horse, cow, or pig in a slaughter house. They are semi-trainable beasts of burden.

In the Original Trilogy (the only one that matters) the Empire was evil. The  Emperor dissolved the Senate and took control to pursue his evil ends.  His henchman, Darth Vader, used The Force and the military to pursue the Emperor's evil goal of domination of the galaxy (while Vader also planned treachery against The Emperor). The Empire subjugated and murdered entire populations of worlds.

It is an easy call to side with The Rebellion.

Lucas fucked it all up after that.

I intentionally specified the Original Trilogy: that was black and white.  Things have become increasingly muddied in the years since (to the detriment of Star Wars).

Though even in The Clone Wars, Jedi are still the good guys even if they don't always make the right decisions.

The big choice is:  Wear pajamas (rebels) or kimonos (Jedi) or black robes (Sith) or spiffy uniforms (Empire)?

I'll take the uniform, please.  And station me on some backwater slimy mudhole fixing damaged probe droids,  where nobody bothers me and I can fly around in my TIE trainer (there has to be one....) in my off hours.

I'm not into Rebel sleepover/slumber parties, I can't get a board far enough up my ass to qualify as a Jedi, I'm not mean enough to be a Sith...there's only one choice.

You made me nerd out a bit and look over the TIE variants. Saw this on the interceptor wiki

"The original production model came equipped with four L-s9.3 laser cannons, one installed on each wingtip. New targeting software was installed in the TIE Interceptor, and the SFS T-s9a targeting computer offered greater accuracy during complex flight maneuvers.[6] Twin laser cannon hardpoints still remained on the "chin" portion of the cockpit module. Provided that technicians could find room for additional power generators, these cannons could also be utilized.[13] Further upgrades, including hyperdrives and advanced shielding made them equal to the Rebellion's X-wing starfighters.[15] Their weapons were equipped with safeties"

Vaders TIE is still cool as hell too. I just personally prefer the interceptors.

Daala got where she was because she was slobbin' Tarkin's lightsaber.

Tarkin put her in charge of the Maw Installation. Why? Because it was nearly impossible to get to, and even she couldn't mess that up, being isolated as such. It was a dead end job, meant to keep her out of the way.

Even Tarken knew what a hot mess she was, and she proved it years later when she tried to take over the Empire and take on the New Republic. Failure and incompetence at every level, because she couldn't keep her emotions in check, and had no grasp of tactics. She cost the Empire the Suncrusher and another Super Star Destroyer. If Gilad Pellaeon had maybe admitted to himself that she completely unfit to command the Empire, he could have "relieved" her earlier, but as such, his nutsack was so shriveled that he kept refusing the burden of command until it was very clear that no one else could.

Admiral Daala was the "long time ago, far far away" equivalent of an EEOC hire.

Alderaan was like Afghanistan. They funded, housed, and supported Rebel Terrorists. Bail Prestor Organa was one of the founding members of the Rebel Alliance and was also the ruling leader of Alderaan. Striking Alderaan is a good thing. Planet wants to be gangsta until it's time to do gangsta shit. Part of that is getting space nuked by the Death Star.

The Sith was a religious order that broke away from the Jedi and were persecuted like many early Protestants were when they broke away from the Catholic Church. The Jedi literally waged a war and killed the original Species of Sith. THE JEDI WAGED A WAR OF GENOCIDE. They then went after people that simply wanted to experience emotions, have families, and want to grow. - They went to war with people that didn't want to experience emotion but rather let emotions control their actions. The primary emotion being hate, to let the hate control you and direct/guide your actions. This is never a good thing and the Jedi war of old was pushed by the Sith that went to kill the Jedi first but the Jedi defended.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. That is not how Sith philosophy works, buddy. You do not let your emotions control you. You use your emotions to drive you.

Sith believe that passion is the true driving force to achieve ones goals and that you should use anything you can to fuel that passion. Many Sith have found that hatred and fear are great motivators but you don't let them control you.

This is is why Kylo Ren is a punk in the new movies, he lets his emotions control him. A Sith would think someone like this to be pathetic.

I would just as soon be part of neither.

Clone wars were neat, then I could retire before empire vs rebellion (like Yularen should have done)

Lots of Rebels didn't make it and I would have done much better than Han (either canon) at being an Imperial... and a lot of them didn't make it either.

Gimmie a modified light stock freighter to haul plastic strill poodu around in and I would be happy.

The English broke their economy clearing the French out of North America on behalf of the colonists, and the ungrateful colonists were so selfish they didn’t even want to pay a measly 2% tax...despite the fact the tax rate in England was closer to 20%, and 90% of Englishmen still didn’t have the right to vote.

The Jedi Order kidnapped kids and brainwashed them for God's sake. Yoda even said that Anakin was too old for training. Why? because he fucking remembered his mother.... that's why. They didn't even attempt to free his mother. They let her stay as a slave! Obi-Wan and Yoda lied to Luke to get him to fight against Vader. Nor did they train Leia and even tell her that she's Force sensitive. They told Luke that Vader killed his father, that his father was a navigator on a freighter, that his father was a innocent pawn killed by the Sith, etc.... ALL FUCKING LIES.

The Jedi were self appointed, fell under no civil government control (ie the People), mind fucked citizens, stole property, destroyed property, carried weapons while the citizenry were disarmed, and lopped off limbs like bored Samurai.

The Rebels wanted to bring back a corrupt government that worked much like the USSR. The Republic preached freedom yet bred an army of living beings and sent them to slaughter against a group of systems that wanted to leave the Republic over economic and tax issues. Sounds like fucking slavery to me.

The Empire didn't give a fuck if Han was armed.... Stormies walked right by him in the bar. He only got into trouble for agreeing to smuggle a know Jedi Terrorist and his Bacha Bazi Lover Boy Toy. Lando ran Cloud City with no problems.... until he harbored terrorists.

Fuck the Rebels.

There is no good side. They are just two large bloated collectivist orders Sith and Jedi. Empire or Rebels are the same they both are to large and powerful for their own good and both think they have the right to rule the galaxy. Both of them are flawed like any large group that seeks to control other people’s lives through their great ideas.

The Empire existed before the Sith take-over.   Every member planet had a voice, and contributed what they felt they could (if you read off/on again canon books) to the whole of the Empire.

The Jedi were like Religious Texas Rangers for all of the member planets.

You could say that absolute power corrupts (Palpatine), and that’s what drove it over the edge (first Galatic Empire).    I always equated Palpatine to a “we in the government know best” SJW weasel (like a modern-day DC swamp creature, or Alexander Hamilton/FDR).

Still, after the hostile takeover of power, they ruled with an iron fist, but you have to wonder how much (galactically) crime went down, since almost every planet had some sort of Trooper barracks on-planet.

TL:DR;

Pre-Palpatine:   Empire Good
Post-Palpatine: Tie?

Of course, as soon as either one of them settles this silly civil war, consolidates power and then extends their power into the outer rim they're eventually gonna meet star fleet and either the Klingons, the Ferengi, the Romulans, or the Borg are gonna make pretty short work of them.  Although I guess the Borg would probably really really like R2D2 and C3PO.

The regular Star Trek civilizations-Federation, Klingons, Romulans, etc- have generally been classified as Kardashec type II, while Star Wars is a type III: basically the equivalent of the contemporary United States(Empire) taking on the ~50 person Sentinel Island stone age tribe.(Federation)

Rebel Scum and Jedi Lovers....

Who tormented Anakin? The Sith? No...

The Jedi did. They took him from his mother and left her as a slave. As a young child, Yoda told him to stop being afraid because it is wrong. No fucking shit a small kid will be scared, he was basically kidnapped, taken from everything he knows, told he is the "Choosen One", and basically instructed to forget his mother and let her die as a slave. Furthermore, as he grew into his teenage years. The Jedi told him "fuck your emotions" at the critical stage where emotional development is crucial. It shunted his growth and mind fucked him.

As a teenager, the Jedi told him that love, lust, and longing for a mate is wrong. Instead of instruct and explain. The Jedi simply went crazy Taliban on him and basically threatened to cut off his dick. He was confused and conflicted. He then is thrusted into a war as a teenager and given command of living beings that are to be treated as Droids. And once again, on top of all that they pump that bullshit that he's the "Choosen One" and will bring balance to the force by killing he Sith.

So they give him a trainee. He trains her, shows her the ways of the force, and develops a close bond. What does the Jedi do? They automatically think she was the bomber, expell her from the order, and want to have her executed. No trial, no gathering of evidence, no chance to prove one's innocence. She had to go on the run and prove her own innocence. What does the Jedi? Sorry for trying to kill you Asoka, let bygones be bygones. Yeah, great example of peace and harmony within he Jedi Order.

What then happens? He gets married but can't express his joy about it. He has kids on he way but can't be a proud father to be because of fear. Fear of what the Jedi will do to him and his wife because he already saw what happened to Asoka.

The Sith came in and simply told him, "Hey look, you're worried about your wife and kids? We support you having a family and caring for them. It's cool bro."

Also what kind of prophecy brings balance by killing all of he Sith and Darkside Users? Balance means an equal number on both sides. He did bring balance. The Jedi were reduced to an equal number as the Sith. The Jedi wanted the prophecy to allow them to go all wahhabist radical on he Sith and kill them like ISIS is killing.

The council rejected Anakin for being too old.

I blame Qui-Gon for wanting a new, young slave boy.
He was going to have him at any cost!
You know how religious zealots can be.

Anakin went psychotic but he had to stop the cycle of abuse!

- Star Wars is science-fantasy, not science-fiction.
- Star Wars (the Original Trilogy) was black and white, good vs evil.

- The thought that people actually believe the Empire/Vader/Emperor are the good guys (and aren't trolling/having fun with the Star Wars universe) is disturbing.

Sith are a cancer, and the Force can't be in balance as long as they exist...but I'm pretty sure you know that

Yup, TCW series made me despise the Jedi.

They didn't kidnap him, he wanted to go with them and begged to go... His mother was "owned property" on a back water planet that the Senate had no real influence on.

He was instructed to control his emotions, not to do away with them. Granted this comment in the shitty prequals is backwards as Yoda in Empire Strikes Back tells Luke that he will be afraid, after he states that he wasnt afraid.

Anakin wasn't tormented by the Jedi but by the Sith. His close relationship with a Sith Lord pushed visions to his head and whispered sweet nothings in his ear. His torment and conflict stemmed directly from this, being pulled in two different directions.

The Sith used him, plain and simple. The Emperor had no love for him and would happily replace him with any other strong candidate to do his dirty work.

The Jedi were the cloitered religious monks of their day. Sworn to a life of chastity, not allowed to pursue their feelings, and emotionally crippled as a result. All but ignoring the real problems around the galaxy but playing ambassador when and where they felt like it. The rest of the time they just sat on their ass while dreaming up ways to defeat the darkside.

When they finally bring in someone who was old enough to realize it was bullshit, he's a bit rebelious...who wouldn't be? And what sort of organization would deny someone the knowledge to save his wife and children? It's no wonder he bails. What parent/husband wouldn't?

Still, I love me an X-wing, just something about
It. Think the Empire would let me fly a captured one? I'd better make sure that gets into my contract

Prior to Disney. The T-65 X-Wing was a fighter design to replace the Z-95 Headhunter which was in Republican and later Imperial service. The design bailed and took the plans to the Rebels. Seiner Fleet Systems then got ththe contract for the new Imperial fighter since Incom couldn't be trusted anymore.

vs parking a Star Destroyer in orbit and saying straighten up or you are getting an orbital bombardment?  Empire had no ambassador or anything like it.  It was their way or the wrong end of a blaster.

He was a loose cannon from day 1.  Never should have taken him on, Yoda called it.  Although I think he was still young enough to be molded into something other than a whiny brat (which to be fair it may have been genetic because the same could be said for Luke)

While it could be said that the Jedi denied him the knowledge maybe they knew it couldn't be changed anyway?  Even the Palpatine didn't have the knowledge aka the "we can work together blah blah blah"  Kinda sounds like he had an ulterior motive and possibly was playing into Anakin's fears giving him false hope...

The Empire did operate Z-95's and ARC-170's for awhile after the clone wars which are related to the X-Wing.  X-Wing kinda splits the difference between the two of them.  If you are not doing trench runs (probably frowned upon as an Imperial) the Z-95 would probably be more fun to fly.

The Empire was very hamfisted thinking if everyone is too scared to challenge them nobody would (wrong) and the Alliance was ran by a bunch of pacifists so stupidly naive that they thought once the empire is defeated they have no need for a military (also wrong)  That is why I vote neither.

They were already moving in the direction of the TIE with the V-Wing which was the most common fighter at the end of the Clone Wars..

The whole "quantity has a quality all of its own" thing...

Eh, there are just some deeply opinionated nerds here, nothing to question your own knowledge over.

Rebels are where it’s at, space nazis are still bad.
