What cracks me up is the people that want to justify not giving a shit about the poor frog lady and the last eggs she'll ever produce and only care about baby Yoda being cute so they do these mental gymnastics to rationalize that baby Yoda was actually trying to HELP the frog lady and her eggs.  Not eat them.

Manned turret sure would have been useful in the trench.

Or the X-Wings could have done their job since they are the Rebels "Air Superiority" fighter.

Y-Wings should have had top cover.

...But that's not how it was in Dam Busters

Or maybe, instead of starting their attack run on the opposite side of the Death Star, they could've dropped into the trench right in front of the exhaust port

But where would George have lifted that script from, line by line?

OK - do you recall an old WWII movie that the Endor rebel attack in the deflector dish bunker scene was based on?
I swear Ronald Reagan had some minor bit part as an OSS agent, although it was mostly British SOE and commandos doing the raid.
And a nazi officer in the bunker called the commando or SOE leader “British scum” or WSTTE.
The commando uniforms were the same (they’re based on WWII British commando or marines anyways)
I know I saw the movie once, and it was another - “that’s from Star Wars moment” ( or really the reverse).   But cannot find it on any lists of WWII movies, or credited to Reagan in IMDb.

Interesting. I remember most of the same little details (watching the battle, talking with Biggs) from the SW comic, which has long since vanished.

No just the TIE Advanced

Thinking back to the EU lore, was the standard TIE considered to have any advantages over the Interceptor?

The Interceptor was way faster, had equal superior firepower, was there any tradeoff?

I imagine the in universe tradeoff would be that they're more fragile. Not that standard fighters had any kind of survivability.

There are similarities. The filming models for SW and BSG were built by the same group of model makers at ILM.

The same ‘kitbashing’ techniques were used, and many of the same donor mode kits were used.

In those deleted scenes, Luke and Biggs talk about the Academy and the Empire as if they are two different things. Has that ever been fleshed out? Or was that done away with as it never made it into the movie? I’ve never read any of the EU.

I got the impression (from those short scenes) that it was more of a merchant marine type of academy than The Imperial Academy.  But, I’m just a guy that saw a few movies, read a comic, saw the Christmas special, and never read the books or watched any cartoons.

I honestly just don't understand this. Star Wars (IV-VI) is literally a spaghetti western in space. That's the entire premise and theme of the movies.

The Mandalorian is objectively better than any of the prequel or sequel movies. That's simply a fact. Please try and argue. Spoiler alert...you can't.

This show captures the essence of Star Wars. This last episode had some Rogue One vibes, with the storm troopers trapped in the corridors, and them all getting gunned down. You have the juxtaposition of Vader mowing down Rebels and Mandalorians shooting Stormtroopers.

Seriously, outside of the EU is better than this?

I saw it more as he realized that the other three are a well drilled team, and he's outside that dynamic.  Putting himself too far forward could interfere with their internal sync.  He started to slide into a more active role in the later stages of the raid.

Fantastic episode. Much needed answers about various Mandalorian beliefs. Good stuff. Bo Katan was great!

In the beginning of the episode a four legged walker/crane picks the razor crest out of the water. Weren’t ATATs based on port cranes Lucas could see from his office or something? I thought that was a nice touch.

I don’t remember if it was in the actual season or the “making of” show but the Mandalorians who rescued him as a child had DW shoulder insignia.  They were always the “extremist” sect in the eyes of the other Mandos so it didn’t really shock me that they were the only ones who wouldn’t remove their helmets.

I did like that he had no idea others removed them and automatically assumed they weren’t Mandalorians.

There have been lots of series where characters are replaced because they die in real life or have contract issues.  Obviously not ideal but I would rather forget the single time we saw his face and move forward than have the show turn toxic because of him.
