Actually, we know how to manage our shit and keep it under control.
Florida seems to have problems with Big Sugar, Big Corporations, and Big Bogeymen.
U.S. sugar corporation is allowed to exist there and function as it does because the residents allow them to continue their operations unchecked.
They can scream about it all they want but until the residents actually DO SOMETHING to stop it en masse, things will continue unabated in the future to come.
Florida is over populated and the land is too densely concentrated as far as agricultural practices. The ecosystem cannot handle BOTH dense Ag usage AND dense human habitation. Heavy Ag production works here because population densities are so low and those of us who DO live here put limits on what Ag industry can and cannot do respective of our practices and watersheds. Yet we produce massive amounts of beet sugar here without any irrigation systems or damage to our waterways.
The trick is to find ways to make Ag more sustainable in your area, and in Florida... That is up to the people to demand sustainable and non-destructive farming practices from all farmers and corporate farms.
