Shot one of those years ago. Neat little top breaks. I read a piece about those cheap little revolvers. The author called them "The guns That Won The East" because they were popular pocket/apron guns back east. You could mail order one for like $6.99 100 years ago.

I know $7 was a lot of money in 1900, but those things were all made on manually operated machines. Crazy.

Double barrel bolt action rifle because they're mechanically interesting and supremely functional albeit in such a narrow way as to be essentially useless.

I also really want to build a coach gun with a pair of osprey supressors purely for the cool factor.

How about the complete line up of 1st -3rd gen S&W autos.

I love them.   Own a few now, and many more over the years.  Still haven’t landed a good deal on a 1006 or 1076.

Mini Uzi in full auto.

Mini 14 AC556.  I actually held one at a local fun shop.

$15k….. I don’t have.

I have owned 2 factory folders in the past.  Not the same though.

Full auto 10/22 with suppressor.

My uncle has the one he shot himself in the head with mounted in a shadow box.

Grandpa died, I was about 10 and we were clearing out his shop.  Found the revolver and a box of ammo, so we went out back and figured might as well see if it worked.  Set up a log, he loads the gun and shoots it.

CLICK, pop. . . boom.  But it hits the log.
CLICK, pop, pfft, boom.  No clue where it went.
CLICK, pop, puffff, thump - hits the log. . . FUCK, shit, what the????

Turn and look and he's holding his forehead, blood starting to run down his hand and arm.

The slug bounced off of the log, came right back, and cracked him in the forehead right between his eyes.

Immediately fire up the mill, made two flats spots, drilled/tapped and bolted it to a piece of wood so no one else would shoot it

“Stupid” guns I have acquired;

.500 S&W magnum with the 8” barrel. I have no real use for the beast but I’m a bit if a recoil junkie and probably compensating for something

.50AE Desert Eagle - kinda the same reason

.22short NAA mini-revolver. This is on the other end of the scale but I just appreciate the engineering and workmanship on such a tiny gun.

I’ve got a lot of guns I really don’t have a purpose for (not to say other people don’t have a legitimate purpose for). I like guns. The history, the artistry, the physics/chemistry/metallurgy. If I only owned guns I “need” I probably wouldn’t have more than four or five.

I have one in .40. I always said my price to buy on a Hi Point was $120 sticker. I passed o several for $129.

Coworker sold me the .40 and a shotgun barrel for $125 and before I got home from picking it up I sold the barrel for $35. $90 for the gun.

ETA-as for a stupid gun I want anyway, 12 gauge from hell. Heavy barrel 12 gauge, 4 inch chamber. Uses BMG brass blown out to a straight wall case, turned down at the base with a 12 gauge rim added. Near .700 NE performance for about $12 per round instead of $110.

IA DNR tried to ban .45-70 for deer hunting last year after having allowed it for over 20 years. Basically on the grounds that it's capable of more energy than a 12 gauge slug. Since it still can shoot standard off the shelf ammo, the 12 gauge from hell looks to be 50 state legal for deer hunting, because it's "just a 12 gauge".

A 1911. Just because they look nice. But I once bought a gun just because it looked cool, and then I never shot it. It was hammerless Ruger SP101 with a 2.25" barrel. I saw a pic of one with black Badger Custom boot grips (not mine, but exactly like this) and decided I needed it. Got the same grips and put them on. Said to myself "Wow, that's a sexy ass gun. It would look neat in a photo laying on a nice wooden desk, next to a lit cigar and glass of whiskey."

Then I remembered I don't have a nice wood desk, I don't smoke cigars, and I don't drink. I figure it wouldn't look as cool sitting on a cheap wooden table, next to a lit Newport and a plastic cup of Coke.

Sold the grips in the EE. Still have the SP101 and it's still unfired. A reminder to myself to not buy guns based on looks.

It may be stupid to a lot of people but I have always wanted an SMLE No.5, commonly known as a Jungle Carbine.

They are not known for accuracy, and in fact are better known for a wandering zero.

I already have a No. 4 so I have ammo, stripper clips and even reloading dies and components for that.

With any luck I will pick one up next month at a gun show here. I saw one at a gun show here back in August but did not have the money. By late Sunday no one seemed to be showing interest in it so I hope no one got it.

Since then I have sold some other stuff and raised the cash for it.

Maybe it’s not a “stupid” gun, but it’s still a lot of $$ for something I won’t ever use.

Properly equipped with “fuck you money”, I’d probably fire up the old tooling & stamps, and make coordinated big time air drops over Australia, NZ, France, Britan, Venezuela, Cuba etc.
Maybe add Rosetta Stone inspired translations of “Fuck around and find out” stamped on millions of units as they rain from the skies.

NAA Mini Revolver

I had a chance to handle/shoot a couple of examples recently, which confirmed all of my thoughts on these little guns:

1. They are very well made little guns, with excellent fit and finish

2. They are fun to shoot

3. People who carry these guns are carrying gun jewelry, not an actual defensive tool

I do really want one though.  Lot of fun at the range.

We had a confiscated one at a police department I worked at. It was kinda shitty but I kinda wanted one too. And before anyone piles on, the quickest way to get fired at my department was appropriating ( stealing )ANYTHING from the property department. I’m sure it went for destruction or could have been surplus auctioned to FFL dealers in my county.
