Vandy showed a new alternate uni at their fan day.

I'm not a Vandy fan but I like it.  I would be concerned how the gold numbers show up on the light jersey on TV - similar to the issues FSU had with the gold numbers on their white jerseys at the beginning of last season.

You think so, but I'd be 100% okay with A&M taking theirs down (it is 47 feet by 163 feet and as of last year was the biggest in CFB...someone may have put up a bigger one this off season, I don't know).

The one time it is really nice is for instant replays, but beyond that they play a bunch of ads, a bunch of silly little videos and a lot of people spend 2/3rds of the game with their neck cranked over to the side watching the stupid video board instead of the game in front of them.  YMMV.

Could definitely think of better additions for $14M....

On the plus side, should be easy to decide whether to challenge a play or not

Ol Sarge is great.  They've pretty much stopped using him for anything, which sucks.

Interesting side note:  The guy who created the character for the school newspaper back in the day went on to work for a little group in New York called "Timely Comics".  That company later became Atlas Comics, before its final name change to something pretty much everyone will recognize...Marvel Comics.

He didn't work on any of the big characters we know now, but he was the lead artist on a comic called "Kid Colt".

But Ole Sarge was his first character.

That is EXACTLY my theory on why teams put them up. Not only to help the coach, but if you don't think the refs sneak a peak at them as well you're kidding yourself.

I believe they help them "make the decision".

Seems like the Noles have several on some key players.

I'm more concerned with the Dalvin Cook situation, and how the QB competition will shake out.

I think Golson came in with the job in hand but he will have to perform over the next couple weeks to keep it. Sean will be a very nice backup plan if it is needed.

And I know Featherston is one of the guys getting scoped, who we REALLY need in there this year. I can't remember the other but both sounded fairly minor and should be back in plenty of time. I love this time of year because we're so close but my ass stays firmly clinched hoping for the best injury-wise in camp.

Chris Casher is the other one getting scoped. Casher looks way out of shape in addition to the messed up knee. Who knows what they'll find when they scope both those guys hopefully nothing.

Lorenzo Phillips is back in pads and practicing. He's the JUCO transfer that hopefully brings needed depth for linebackers.

There's several other injuries but mostly on new guys who we weren't counting on.

Derwin James was hurt but I haven't seen any updates on him.

That's right, Casher. I thought it was 2 DEs, and we need every one we have. I swear Fisher said he thought they were sprains and not tears and he was expecting them back pretty quick so hopefully that holds true.

I hadn't heard that James was dinged up He's one that I'm really excited to see so hopefully nothing bad there.

Not as big as what you guys have, but something to show the other side of the field when you have corner seats would be nice at ND stadium. You cant see shit from the corners and have to rely on crowd noise most of the time.

Luckily there is usually a TV timeout right before a kickoff.  I bet they will have a grad student coach assigned to that one task.

I don't know man, I'd be shocked if they left it up to him to remember. I'm assuming Fisher will put a grad assistant or someone like that solely in charge of Ramsey's jersey changes and making sure he is legal and on the field whenever he is needed.

If there is nobody monitoring and it ever resulted in a penalty like you said, one of three things would happen immediately.

1. It will become somebody's permanent job
2. Kermit will change numbers
3. Ramsey won't return kicks anymore (this being the least likely option)

Just stumbled upon this thread earlier today.  Read it from the beginning, a little at a time, throughout the afternoon.  Just caught up, glad to see nothing has changed.

OSU should be loaded and ready this year, barring injuries/freak upset/etc. I won't be at all surprised to see a repeat.

I fully expect to be let down and disappointed by every university I have attended except UAB... and that only because they won't be fielding a team this season.  Hard to even get excited about it all, and I usually am by now.  I just can't shake the strong feeling that UA and AU are both being thought too highly of at this point for the coming season.  Hope I'm wrong, but only time will tell.

Regardless, let the games begin...

Yeah...those were the good ole days.

Hell...on AU, we have a starting DT with the same number as our starting QB. Another DT has the same number as a starting WR (that one should have drawn a ST penalty last year...).

It's nuts nowadays.

More or less it comes down to not wanting to tell the guy no, he can't have that number.

It's a fairly recent phenomenon...escalated a lot in recent years.
