Nobody is great this year in my view. Clemson #1 fine. But after them, nobody stands out as a 100% clear #2. I agree with all of that. Even #1 Clemson is just kinda 'meh'. No one team has truly had me saying "wow, that is a special kind of talent" like we've seen in yeas past. |

I will have to respectfully disagree with you on that............Iowa is a good team, but I don't think they are better than Bama or Oklahoma
|
|
Hey, let them have their bit of delusion. As long as Alabama wins, tOSU doesn't have a shot. All the (IMO, justified) criticism that is being directed at OU for not having a championship game this week should be directed tenfold at tOSU for failing to win their division and not even making their championship game this weekend. tOSU being idle this week will be jumped UNC should they beat the team that's been #1 for the entire 2015 CFP ranking. UNC just needs to hope USC can beat Stanford. That said, all this is moot if Clemson wins. |

Who's #2 then? Iowa, especially if they beat Sparty. There are two separate and unrelated issues here. Who is the better team, and what the "playoff" committee rankings are. The latter is not necessarily the same as the former, and it is not wise to treat them the same. Who is #2 ought to be Iowa, assuming Iowa and Bama both win their championships. Undefeated trumps a win over a horribly pathetic contender for a conference championship. IMO. Who is the 2nd best team is more likely to be Bama. Although I'm still unimpressed with Clemson. I've been waiting for them to stumble all year. How about: 1 - Oklahoma 2 - Alabama 3 - Iowa 4 - Clemson 5 - MSU 6 - OSU 7 - ND 8 - Stanford That's my current selection. But it's a hard choice between OU and UA. |

AJC reporting Kirby Smart will be Georgia's Head Coach
ATHENS — Barring a last-minute snag in negotiations, Alabama’s Kirby Smart will become Georgia’s new football coach. An announcement could come as soon as Sunday or Monday.
Smart, 39, is the Crimson Tide’s defensive coordinator. He is from Bainbridge and was a UGA letterman (1995-98) and team captain as a senior. View Quote AJC story |
|
I think he was holding out for his alma mater head coaching gig..............UGA is taking a chance on him as he hasn't had a HC gig, but I think he will succeed. Either Pruitt or Mel Tucker were rumored to be his possible replacements if he left, but I think Bama will be fine.........

You shut your whore mouth! LOL I know. I'm torn on that as I think NC deserves it if they beat Clemson. My concern is after listening to those guys yesterday on the playoff ranking show is that no matter what NC does they are screwed. Those 2 FCS games and that loss to SC is haunting them. Therefore my best hope is to screw the conference who believes they are special. The whole problem is and I'm sure everybody here agrees is, the National Championship is being somewhat decided in an office and not on the field like it should be. Playoff expansion is the only way to resolve this. 8 teams would cover all the deserving teams. The argument of then #9 and 10 would be whining doesn't wash as that far down its too diluted. Not to say 16 would be bad as those additional games could take the place of some of these bullshit 5-7 teams getting bowl bids but I'll settle for 8. |

3 short years ago, polls were only legitimate way to decide the NC. I defended and supported true playoffs since day one and was almost alone in that point of view.
Now all of a sudden when the discussions are more transparent than just a vote being published, and teams get shuffled around for more reasons than just losing, it all of a sudden is not adequate. Win and you are in, is the only legitimate way to get a true NC. It doesn't matter if you are in a tougher conference than someone else. That is just the breaks. If you really want the regular season to matter, don't let anyone who doesn't win their conference in the playoffs. That way teams can't afford to lose any games. If you are so much better than the others and you lock up the championship before you play your last game, so what? How often does that happen for it to even be an issue? |

Possibly back to Bama..........he played there and was a part of a couple of NC teams. I'd suspect he will get a call in the next day or so. He was rumored to want the DC job before he left, and this might possibly be his chance to get it............If I were hiring, I'd call him and keep Tucker as secondary coach since he's done a great job with the DBs this year
Some UGA sources are saying that Pruitt wont be retained, and that Muschamp is headed to UGA with Smart Quoted:
