I am soo happy that Clemson won the ACC championship.

UNC did get screwed on that on side kick penalty

But this game should have never been close. Clemson beat UNC all night. The stupid penalties and mistakes killed Clemson. If they ever put together a perfect game, similar to the Miami game, then no one can beat them.

I just wish it was the old Championship rules now, with no playofss. Then Clemson would be undefeated National Champs and I can stop taking blood pressure meds.

Nos does the team whose only loss is to msu by 3 go to the rose bowl or the team whose only loss is to msu by 3 go?

Probably the team that lost on a neutral field.
Point.

Msu used their 2nd string QBs on the road.

Yeah, in what was basically determined to be run only weather by both teams.  I don't think it was a liability in that game.

Agreed.

Back to the main point, osu will go the Rose Bowl since they lost earlier than Iowa. Even though Iowa deserves it more.

Top 6 Running Backs (and only P5 in top 10)

Rushing:
Derrick Henry 1797 on 295 attempts (6.1 average)

Leonard Fournette has 1741 on 271 attempts (6.4 average)

Royce Freeman has 1706 on 257 attempts (6.6 average)

Ezekiel Elliott has 1672 on 262 attempts (6.4 average)

Dalvin Cook has 1658 on 211 attempts (7.9 average)

Christian McCaffrey has 1640 on 287 attempts (5.7 average)

Receiving:

Henry 10 for 97 yards

Fournette 18 for 209 yards

Freeman 24 for 325 yards

Elliott 26 for 176

Cook 22 for 218

McCaffrey 37 for 435

I don't think it's really all that clear that Derrick Henry is the best running back in his division of his conference, let alone the best player in NCAAF.

All he can hang his hat on is having a couple more touchdowns and a few dozen more yards than Fournette in the rushing department.  Fournette played 2 less games (Cook also played 2 less games).

McCaffrey is also the #5 kick returner by average yards per return (29.7), #4 by total yards (922)...

McCaffrey's stats look like an anomaly. (passing TDs, set ncaa ALL-TIME all purpose yards record set by some bum named Barry Sanders)

Henry's look like a top 5 running back who played an extra couple of games.

If Henry wins the Heisman they should rename it to the "Best Back on Bama" award...

I don't want to see the game get bogged down with a ton of replays but there needs to be something done about penalities that can change the outcome of a game significantly like a turnover or score.

This game and the Miami / Duke game come to mind where a reviewable penalty would have changed the outcome of 1 game for sure and possibly another.

One was on a change of possession penalty and the other a possible penalty on a touchdown.

Both major game changers.

I know how fast the game is and seeing and making calls in real time but on this play, a kickoff, the ref looking straight down the line and the Tarheel players being not even close to the line? no not on this play was the call so close that it could go either way

So one team stayed in the playoff and another team lost their shot at getting into the playoff because of the refs fuck up on a play that wasn't even close to being offside

Sooo... just who is it that you think lives in Jamaica, by an overwhelming majority? The russians? You're not being clever asking why Jamaicans would care about football.

Well. I might be jumping to conclusions, maybe you really just simply dont know. Let me assure you, there are Jamaicans that care about college ball. Also to further clarify, when the other half of my family isnt drunk off firewater on the reservation; they also watch college ball.

I'll just take this as a simple misunderstanding. Use it as an educational opportunity. Black people and Indians care about college football.  No harm, no foul.

Stuff your racial shit.  You are jumping to conclusions so maybe you should use this as an educational opportunity and stop whining and being condescending.

Your stats for Henry don't include last night's numbers, so it's really one extra game.  Those couple TDs count.  And I'd guess the big argument for Henry is that Bama likely isn't 12-1 without him.

ETA: I missed the last part, but your right, since so many Bama RBs have won Heismans over the years and all.

Correct. Insiders indicate Smart was essentially a done deal, which triggered UGA to fire Richt. UGA is Smart's alma mater, and they didn't want him to go to USC. Our AD couldn't really do anything once Richt got canned.

USC insiders also report Rich Rod was never offered the job, so the word coming from Arizona about him turning us down is false.

Got anything definitive on that?

ESPN report reads like he did turn it down: http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/14299797/rich-rodriguez-turns-offer-coach-south-carolina-gamecocks

As an Arizona alum I'm glad he's staying. This was a down year to be sure, but we lost a lot of people, especially on defense. I think we were down to our 9th string LB at one point. Hard to judge a season when that happens. Plus our QB was hurt a bunch and after an early concussion never got back on track. (I think Soloman has skills, he is just too fragile)

He has some interesting guys coming in at QB and the Dawkins kid showed some promise. He's just now having to play with his own guys so we'll see how things progress. But I think he's down enough (including a Pac 12 South title and a Fiesta Bowl berth last year.

The line in Vegas was NC +5
The refs couldn't "afford" to let NC get the ball back

Maybe the refs won enough money to retire then because the ACC crew that blew this call should be fired and never allowed to ref another game

Mistakes happen and the game moves a lot faster in real time on the field than it does on TV.
Maybe there needs to be replay on penalties that involve a possible possession change and / or score.

I agree. The solution is what calls can be subject to replay.

What is the backstory to the pics like this? I know Miami did a big homo erotic photo shoot like this as well, I just don't get the point.

Hell if we had a consistent QB we are probably 10-2 on the season.

Half of you guys spend more time talking about Bama than your own team.

Must be doing something right.

I'm a few pages late, but how is him cracking a joke (even though it was an innocent joke) and different from your constant knocks last night against Bama fans?  Should I get all butthurt and offended like you currently are and start screaming about you slandering my "ethnic background"?

If you can't take it, don't dish it.

there is a big difference between talking shit between perceived fan base stereotypes and personal attacks.

Gators sure as shit better expect talk about jorts and Hernandez. Aggies about 3/4 of a game and found championship. Auburn about buying players. Vols and Bama about trailers and lack of genetic diversity. Seminoles/canes about criminoles.

You're new here, so; as the only regular gator posting (nova used to post more), over the past couple seasons, you better fucking believe I've got thick skin because of my teams shit show. As a new guy you would have seen me roll with it hundreds of times already. But larryg wasnt talking shit on the gators. He asked half a dozen times specifically why my blackass carred about football. I don't know what his issue is with Jamaica.

I can take Sports shit talking, all day long. Thinly vieled personal racial jabs, not as much. I could only take his shit for about a month on that.

Good God.  Only one player at Bama has a Heisman and that was Mark Ingram in 2009.

That's really a stretch.

Pssht. If we'd had a decent QB, with our schedule, we would have been undefeated going into the B1G championship game. And probably gotten killed again.

If you mean Baylor's back-up, I know my dad never even bothered to text

Interestingly, I am an Arizona alum and we were down to our 3rd stringer by the end of the season, I root for Baylor because of my parents and I am a Cowboy fan. Everyone best be glad I don't like their team or I could've gotten your QB killed this season.

Wow. Keep it up, we are getting really close to rolling out the 400-lb TE wing-T offense.

ESPN had the game stats posted, I just figured they'd automatically had them added to the season stats...apparently someone manually does it, no wonder they laid off so many people.  I'm going to recommend spreadsheets and formulas to help them with the stats.

Henry 1986 yards on 339 carries (5.858 average), 97 receiving yards for a total of 2083 yards

McCaf 1847 yards on 319 carries (5.789 average), 540 receiving yards for a total of 2387 yards

Henry is almost certainly the best running back on his team though.

I wouldn't average kick return yards because that's stupid but he now averages 6th best in kickoff returns ans 2nd most for yardage on kickoff returns

He has also passed for a couple of touchdowns.

Henry has more touchdowns (23 rushing) than McCaffrey who has 8 rushing, 2 passing, 1 kickoff return, 4 receiving (15 total).

Henry accounts for 23 of Alabama's 28 rushing touchdowns

McCaf accounts for 8 of Stanford's 32 rushing touchdowns

That's probably right.  Although I'd rather have Sparty/Sooner v. Tide/Tiger.  That way you'd have a regional feel to things, the "Great Plains Champ" v. the "Southern Champ" in the finals.
