Is UF that high for academics?  I thought they were more of a research focused uni which probably makes sense if I think about it.

I know lots of UGA grads and have thought highly of them in recent years.

So I assume you think Bama should drop after they play Western Carolina...just before Auburn.  Right?

Oh, and Auburn should drop after beating Samford.  They won't drop much because by that point they will already have 4 losses.  A fifth will come after getting blasted by Bama.  But hey, they are a top 10 team right now.  Ridiculous.

Auburn and Oregon were both unimpressive in that game. Both were overrated going in and now we know that Auburn is way overrated.  They will be lucky to be in the top 25 before bowl selection.

UF is a top ten public, for the nation (beat Georgia tech this year). Many of the stem are top 10-25 for all schools in the nation. Until tamu and mizzy joined; UF and Vandy were the only AAU schools in the SEC.

UF spends more on research than all the rest of the Universities in Florida combined.

UF is rated very high for education.

LOL...show us where the big bad champion SEC teams touched you on the Aubie bear

Calling Auburn's losses like a demented Lee Corso would.   Who else opens with a #11, plays @ #12 A&M, plays @ #11 UF, plays @ #6 LSU, and ends the season at home with #3 UGA, and #2 Bama.  I believe it's the second hardest schedule in the country....and for a number of years has repeatedly had a top 5 hardest schedule, including the hardest during that run.

Who is your little team that plays a schedule like Auburn, has talent like Auburn, and produces results like Auburn against top 10 teams for around a century?

Hey Flyhack, my Husky-fan bro...

The AP/CP and CFP gave us our due respect in 2016 when we rated it. We came out swinging vs Bama but lost... No shame there.

The last two seasons have been really underwhelming vs our expectations, and we have some work to do in earning back the respect we had in '16. No worries though. If we run the table or have one respectable loss to a team like Utah, we will be right in the mix. I loved JB, but Eason is the bump we need to get us over the hump.

Until then, I think the AP has us about right at this point in time. Auburn earned the leapfrog over us for now.

GO DAWGS!

Polls work themselves out pretty quickly.  IMO, the final poll of the previous season should be the starting point.  Championship team graduates or loses four or five, they’re likely in the hunt the next year.  Lose ten or twelve starters?  They’ll lose a game pretty quickly and will settle out where they should.  In the end, this argument keeps sportswriters who aren’t competent enough to keep any other job in a career.  If there’s nothing else to write about, they’ll pull this out of their ass.

The only 2 teams that moved much at all were Auburn and Oregon who basically changed places with Auburn moving up 6 spots and Oregon dropping 5 spots. Funny how that worked considering they played each other.

If it’s SEC bias why aren’t y’all pointing out that Notre Dame and Texas moved up 1 spot each which bumped Florida down 3 spots?
Isn’t the Miami team Florida beat probably better than Louisville or Louisiana Tech?

SEC had 1 team move up and 1 move down
Big12 had 1 move up and 1 move down
Big10 had 1 move up and 2 move down
Pac12 had 3 move up and 2 move down
ACC had 1 move up and 0 move down
Independent Notre Dame moved up
Only ranked G5 team UCF moved down 1 spot

The mental gymnastics going on in your heads are not backed up by the facts so quit panicking after the week 1 rankings. These teams that y’all accuse of not being deserving of their current rankings will expose themselves eventually.

I feel that way too. Not that it matters.

In case anybody cares, South Carolina QB Jake Bentley broke his foot Saturday and will be out at least six weeks. The official line is he broke it late in the loss to UNC, however the strong rumor in Columbia is he actually broke it kicking the wall in the locker room after the game.

Bentley will be replaced by true freshman Ryan Hilinski, a 4 star recruit from California.
Rough schedule for a true freshman.
How did Hilinski look in spring/fall practice?
I did not see the spring game this year, but by all accounts, Hilinski is a very accurate passer, with a stronger arm than Bentley. Down side is he is not very mobile, more of a pure pocket passer. This is not a great loss, since Bentley was not much of a runner either. It will be interesting to see how Hilinski develops this season.

I actually love the A&M aspect to the bet given it's the main reason for the huge payout, and I think you picked a perfect pick with the BYU one.

I am a bit hesitant on the Texas game.   While I'd bet on LSU, it easy to see Texas winning that game.
