Bama is beating themselves right now with the penalties.

Very untypical Bama.

No matter the outcome of this game they'll be laser focused going forward.

Saban actually likes games like this. It reinforces his teachings to the players that you have to play mistake free football.

This is going to be a record for penalties committed by a Saban coached team.

By a large margin. It's killing any and all momentum and motivation for bama.

This is why you want to play Bama early in the season.

The young guys are still learning.

With the sloppy way Bama is playing this should NOT be a 3 point game at this point.

Just look at Texas' last possession before halftime. Texas had it 1st and goal from the 2 with 8 seconds left and 2 timeouts.

They got one throw out of it and then missed a 20 yard FG.

They will be laser focused the rest of the year.

This is the yearly wakeup game for the new players. Anything less than the playoff is a failure.

If you are playing for Alabama and Saban, you shouldn't need a wakeup game.

Honestly, the teams look like they switched coaching staffs this week.

Did you miss where Texas is on QB2 and he’s playing injured? To top it off, the refs blew an EASY facemask calm that would have given TEXAS 3 cracks at the EZ inside the 10?

It's entirely possible this Alabama team just isn't as good as everyone thinks.  They have holes on offense, not a lot of depth at WR, and even the defensive leader in Anderson playing terrible.

Yes, this is only the second game of the season.  But unless Texas has completely transformed since last year, it's not looking good.  The Heisman QB from last year is currently 12/20 for 77 yards, and 6 total first downs through 3+ quarters.  The other Heisman candidate in Anderson has at least 5 flags, with one personal foul.  They don't have anyone else to carry the team, and the receiving corp they were so dependent on last year is gone.

If you look at Alabama going back to even last November, the signs have been there.  They've played seven legitimate teams in that time, and have looked Alabama-esque in only one of those games...the SEC Championship against Georgia.  Otherwise, 6pt win over LSU...7pt win over Arkansas....2pt (4OT) win over Auburn...21pts over Cincinatti, who shouldn't have even been in the playoff.  Otherwise, the loss to Georgia in the title game, and the struggle against Texas today.

Alabama can still win this game, and likely will....but I think there is a lot more than just a few "new players" waking up.

I don't care if they have their 3rd string QB in.  That's no excuse to have it first and goal from the 2 and not get any points out of it.
