OTOH, CFB has gotten retardedly over complex for coaches with all the NIL and transfer portal bs they gotta deal with.

NFL HC's have way less headaches.

Yep.  The model is changing.  Building a program is hard enough, but the new rule changes start eroding away at a coach’s efforts as fast as he starts.  Going to be a big learning curve in the near future if nothing changes.

Question is, who will be the guy to follow the GOAT?  I know for years folks liked to float around Dabo, but I think his shine has faded off a bit over the last two years.  Kiffin?  Meyer?  I'm sure Kirby Smart's name will be thrown around, but I'd argue right now it would be at best a lateral transfer.

I don't see it happening, but anything is possible.  That being said, like I mentioned, at best it would be a lateral transfer.

eta:  I like to think Smart is 100% committed to Georgia, but these days anything is possible.

Despite winning NCs and owning UGa, Meyers never was able to beat Auburn. That will not make him attractive to bama fans.  Well, that and the fact that he is not related to any of them.

Do you think fans will go for Dabo?  3-4 losses each of the last 3 seasons, and the fact he doesn't embrace the transfer portal just doesn't scream "Alabama" to me...

I think Kiffin would be the funny hire, especially if it doesn't go well.

Don't know if Dabo can recreate the glory years of Clemson in this new era as well

He has burned some bridges over there...............Wes Neighbors stated that they have already hired a coach, but that remains to be seen. I think Byrne and Saban both had this in the works for awhile. He said when he couldnt give 100% to Bama, it was time to go..........He's earned it

I hate it, but I’m not really surprised.  Dude had looked really tired the last two seasons or so.

If I was sitting on his stash, I’d have probably packed it in LONG ago.  Spent the rest of my days hunting and fishing and shooting and whatever the heck else I felt like doing.

Absolutely no surprise there.  Bama comes calling at this moment is a nice program to take over.  Pressure is gonna be intense though, short of a lot of natties

Yeah, it's always been a pressure filled job, but I think Saban and Byrne both have a hand in who gets the job, and I think they pick a good one who can handle that pressure...............Just no Deion or Dabo
