In the past 100 years only three coaches have left for another program. DeBoer is the most recent. Sark did it for USC like 10 years ago and left the program a shell of its former self. |

This would kill UA's momentum but I got to say he did wonders with that program in a very short period of time--especially with a freshman QB. Per ESPN
Jedd Fisch will be the next football coach at Washington, the school announced Sunday. Washington athletic director Troy Dannen engaged Fisch in a second round of interviews this weekend, and narrowed in on the former Arizona coach as the choice, sources said. He was the only candidate to emerge for a second interview after an initial round of candidate calls in the wake of Kalen DeBoer's exit for Alabama. Sources told ESPN that Arizona held a 6 p.m. ET staff meeting and a 6:30 p.m. team meeting, where Fisch announced his departure to Washington. After his meetings with Arizona, Fisch and his family traveled to Washington to meet with the Huskies at around 11:30 p.m. ET, according to a source. Before boarding the plane in Arizona, Fisch recorded a video that Washington posted on social media. He ended the video telling Huskies fans, "Let's go get that championship we've been talking about." Considering it's only 8:14pm EST, I guess Fisch has time traveling skillz... |

I have zero idea how the coaching hires come about in college football. But I would have to think, like in the case of Saban, that the universities have to have been contacting other coaches before the coach leaves, correct? It just doesn’t seem to me that Saban leaves, and two days later, they have a new coach.
Pretty fast turnaround if things weren’t in motion 3-4 weeks ago. |
|
T Robinson left Bama 48hrs ago after DeBoer got there and signed on to be UGAs co-DC.
Bama, reportedly, somehow had a change of heart and is offering him the sole DC position BACK at Bama 24hrs later (he’s signed with UGA). They’d have to pay a buyout and it looks weird to let a guy go a day or two before then throw the kitchen sink at him 24hrs later. Who’s making the calls on this? DeBoer or did Saban over-rule? |

Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh Wants Immunity From Termination Related To Ongoing NCAA Investigations In New Contract
Jim Harbaugh remains engaged in contract talks with Michigan amid NFL swirl Even as Jim Harbaugh meets with NFL teams about coaching opportunities, specifically the Los Angeles Chargers early this week, he remains engaged in discussions with Michigan about a contract extension that includes unusual termination clauses should he choose to stay in Ann Arbor, according to industry sources. Specifically, sources said Harbaugh is seeking language that would grant him immunity from termination from any finding or sanction that could arise from multiple current NCAA investigations into the football program. Harbaugh is also seeking a delay in the start date of the new contract to maintain a lower buyout that NFL teams would have to pay Michigan to hire him away. The buyout in his current contract dropped from $2.25 million to $1.5 million on January 11. Michigan is seeking that to rise to about $4 million in a new deal. Harbaugh has sought to have the new deal not start until Feb. 15, thus maintaining the lower, and more favorable, buyout number until after the NFL hiring cycle has concluded. |

I'd be going to the NFL, if I was in his position. NIL and Transfer portal is all fucked up. NCAA has a rules & regulations book so long that you need a staff of 1,000 lawyers to stay within the guidelines.
The reward of being a campus and State-wide God vs headache ratio just isn't good anymore. |

Quoted: You're mixing up the payout the coach owes the school for leaving (this minor amount) and the payout the school owes the coach if they make him leave (every penny left on his contract). It's insane how one-sided these contracts are for the coaches (though I'm not aware of any other school being quite so stupid as A&M and not include any offset for future employment). I honestly doubt if Alabama will even come close to sniffing the playoffs next year at this rate. I dont know..............never know how those things will play out. I figured there would be a period of transition with changing coaches, and I dont personally see DeBoer being a Rich Rod type coach........I think he will do fine. As for the players transferring, that was always a possibility as many of them came to play for Saban, and they are getting lots of greenbacks waived in their faces. But in the same way, other players will enter the portal during the Spring period and I'd be willing to bet there will be some come to Bama as well...........already got a line on a WR and highly rated center. I think you will see the same for Michigan in the coming weeks after Harbaugh decides which way he is going...........but demanding a "no fire" clause in his new contract for things that may or may not get Michigan penalized in the future is telling. |
