Went with a cheapo Lee single stage press to start out and see if I would kill myself or kaboom first. I plan on upgrading this year. Dillon is too high for my blood, I may look into a Hornady AP.

Yes. I would have gone with a cheaper option like a lee. The single stage outshines the progressive for precision rifle and self defense pistol/rifle. Shit that's what I forgot. Single stage is also great for developing loads before cranking out a bunch on the progressive. I'm a dumbass sometimes

Quoted: I have the same, lee single stage. I can not crank out the rounds like the dillion progressive, but when I do things in stages I put out a few hundred rounds a couple times a week. Its much better than paying retail prices for plinking ammo. Plus having the sigle stage has been nice for the sole reason of figuring out some good recipes for each caliber I have been reloading. My next desision will be turret or progressive, i am going to wait another year. In the mean time im saving up for a nice brass prep center. Ran a 5k today. I hate 5k for race distance, would rather do a half or full marathon.
Time was 21:03, not bad but slower than I should have been. Finished 5th overall. And only 2nd in my age group. 4 effen finishers in front of me and one of 'em had to be in the 45-49 age group. Damnit! |

I was spending a couple of bucks on the plastic shoe boxes each and then I saw a post in the reloading section about them, one guy had tons of them, literally like 50 of them. We go through one a week or so, and the wife just puts the emptys on my bench. I like that they have that cool handle molded into it and the lids are all interchangeable too. Slap some painters tape on there for what in it, round caliber, clean, primed. and GTG. Small things like that save enough money for more primers and other little items. Every little savings to put toward components make a difference. Here is where im at today. My ammo cans are full of the finished product now too. Before I started reloading the Idea of having 1000 rounds per caliber would have been a joke. Now not a big deal at all. If we could just reload 22LR we would be set. It just takes time to build up the stuff. I am getting there.' |
