Quoted: Almost as if our public education system is in no way configured for education, or something. View Quote Learning is hard, and is almost individual in what "works right". By the time you are teaching, you've forgotten the struggles of younger you and are overwhelmed by everything new, so doing whatever your peers are doing is one thing you don't have to worry about figuring out. I know a guy, one of the three top programmers I know, who can't write a single line of code until he completely understands everything on all levels to the bottom. When he writes code, it's fast and very good. The actual typing part takes a long time to happen, but the typing is fast and comes from a place of understanding every tradeoff. This gets him dinged for not being fast enough to get to typing, over and over. If you played video games on Windows 95, that was a lot of his work. |

Okay, I'm an idiot.
More accurately, I thought the solution to a problem was more complex than it really required. Wrong addresses on VFDs, caused by swapped cables from the Stratix switch. Swap cables, redownload program. Addresses still wrong. Begin to ponder why, and then discuss hard setting them into the drives. Overruling the Boot P setting I went right past the obvious power cycle. Let's laugh at Lube for overcomplicating another aspect of life. |

The drives are talking happy now, so that's good. And those two were the only problem children.

In that wider sense, then, I agree with you and think that has a lot to do with why we need to do a better job in educating and training teachers. |
