You know, when I want to add some weight to an AR, I just open the door in the stock or grip and add some lead shot, or get some of those lead weights that go under the handguards precisely for that purpose. You can add quite a few pounds that way, and if you balance it then it carries pretty decently besides. But yeah, I guess you could go to all that trouble of hollowing out a toaster and stapling it to your gun. I was going to post almost the same thing. Seriously though, this may be the dumbest fucking rifle "invention" on ar15.com since that dust cover tab bullshit. Your idea isn't new, its just poorly executed and looks like some retarded airsoft bullshit. Edited to add, I've got a coors tall boy can full of lead that had a throw lever bolted to it that I can snap on a railed forend that does the same thing. I use it when little kids, women or new shooters want to shoot or in the prarie dog fields to watch the carnage. The cans change color a bit when you pour them full of hot lead, but everyone gets a laugh bc you can still read it. Pics? Sorry, no pictures. But imagine a slightly discolored tall boy with an ACOG mount bolted to it. Fits quite nicely with the groove in the mount. I suppose one could have painted it flat black for the "game changa" look but that's not as fun. When the buddies and I cast lead ingots it tends to be into empty beer cans. it literally took about 2 minutes to make. Had the lead slugs, had an old acog mount in the parts box, dug out a couple of drywall screws. The chicanery ensued. Keep in mind, those fucking lead cans hold their heat for a LONG time and if someone shows up and sees a random beer can (and doesn't see the discoloration) they learn right quick to get their own friggin beer. I think it weighs around 9 pounds or so? Haven't dug it out in forever because (just like this magic box) its nearly fucking pointless. It doesn't look like this stupid box though and was free. Shit, I'm a pretty damn good machinist, but I'd still be hard pressed to beat the "magic coors can?" for simplicity. Perhaps I need to advertise these and market them as recoil reducers? I figure I could fit about 50 pounds of leaded beer cans (6?) on a rifle length rail. Now if I went to the fosters oilcans??? |

Oh, and to the OP, it looks unprofessional to test stuff on a public range. At the very least wait until there aren't a bunch of people milling around in the background. And if you want to proove that it reduces recoil appreciably, shoot it without shouldering it and try and make it as "scientific" as you can (with weight, without weight, measured recoil etc.) Also crappy black and white pictures and smoke and mirrors bullshit may sell stuff to the "super tac ops swat counter sniper operator force strike group" but people that actually shoot will see right through it. I applaud the fact that you had an idea though and built it. Unless you can achieve the same results as the already effective brakes, mercury tubes, pads, etc.this isn't anything new. People have been throwing weight at rifles for years to tame them. I saw a poured (bronze I think?) stock a few years back that a guy made for one of the heavy benchrest classes. Damn think had to weigh 70 pounds it was HUGE. He poured his own cannons though or so I heard so...

Okay...just thinking "inside the box" here, but maybe the box is to just conceal the real deal from lookie-lous at the range before he can patent the idea???

Seriously though - its a hot pocket dispenser.
We filed a patent a few months ago for a "HP Battle Compartment". And for record I've never fired a rifle on a range when its cold. |

Seriously, why not just cover it in feathers or rhinestones if you're not going to tell what the function is? Cuz this ain't American Guns, son. Does he look like he works at GunSmoke? No! He looks more like a Red Jacket Operator. Vince, put yo dumbass toys away and get back ta work, we got only two weeks to make anotha game changa. |

Looks kinda cool and good on you OP for developing something specific for your needs. It may not serve an audience but that's not the point, inventiveness is the point!

So that ungainly, cobbled together abortion is supposed to replace ammo tuned to the particular rifle a barrel tuner?
Is somebody trying to get their own reality gun show? |

IIRC from an online blog - it's an attempt at a hybrid 'Rail Gun'. So the gun shoots the projectile and then the "box" accelerates the projectile by the use of a magnetic field? If so, that may be impressive. If not, I'm still disappointed. I think the idea is a 'hybrid' use gun powder to get it going but have a magnetic field help accelerate it beyond what powder normally could. Yeah if it works it sure would be interesting. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_121/557448_Unique_LR_308_Project.html Thanks for the link. His use of the term hybrid-rail gun is misleading. Oh well, not interested in a bulky overheavy toy. |

Great! Just what we need is yet another attention whore thread.
Maybe I should dig through my stash of "aircraft grade aluminum" and see what abortion I can come up with. Yeah! I'll stick some in the mill and add all sorts of pretty cuts and cap head screws, paint it, photo it (in B&W of course) and then make you guys guess what the fuck it is. Brilliant!! It'd be a game changa that nebber bin dun befo! |

Good luck with your venture....I put a new unusual product on the market recently (not gun related) and I've caught my fair share of shit too...and a few orders don't let it get you down

Oh,,I understand what it is now,,,,, the answer to a question that was never asked!
Are you for real? Why would anyone want to put all that on a rifle, and what benefit do they get for doing so? |

Tsk Tsk - to assume the first thing from paper to physical object is going to be the final outcome is extremely short-sighted.
Whats with the entitlement with some of you people? If you can't be patient then that is not my problem. Stomping around and throwing a tantrum demanding to know what it is and calling people names is not going to get you an answer. As someone has already pointed out - the concept mimics those of auto car manufacturers who drive around prototype vehicles with coverings or shapes to make the vehicle look odd or unidentifiable. (for the record I did not post this in General - it was moved here - I picked up right away that the General section here is the "welcome to the jungle" of the entire forum lol) |

Post the pics of the target(s) that show what this magic Box does or fuck off back to whatever sites you wasted the posters' time at before this one. You do realize there's plenty of 'real' shooters here who can make or break the reputation of yet another small shit tactical gun company, right? After your various other threads of whinery it's time to put up or shut up, IMO. ...and nice booney hat at the range, you had fatigues on as well, didn't you? |

Quoted: I made something similar that cancels recoil out 100% and only adds 8lb to the gun. I ducttaped 2 AR's together 69 style, then linked the triggers so they fire at the exact same time. The rear facing AR's force cancels out the forward facing AR's recoil, making the rig not move at all. Picture two guns like this hooked together. http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRXTRTDTY0EmOE-hZkf3Mm5vXgInInl7SnCyTztb-AToomzvGbP7rU4EIVJ Works PERFECTLY for one shot I guess OP is building the perfect rifle for a target and a shooter that never, ever, move. |

Spend your time on making your products, and find someone else to do this for you. I'm not trying to be snide, either. It's extremely rare for someone to run a successful business as a one man show. |
