Definately need more pics of said friend and Bren.

Sorry. She is a skilled shooter, and is cute too, but I dont think she's agree for more pics. I posted this one because she wasnt recognisable.

Figured some of the Europeans would kind of be alittle butt hurt about the Bren being the defecto name of the weapon system when it is actually a Czech design.

EDIT.

Damn sorry to hear that. On a personal note, though, dad had a stroke and is still here. He mentions that he wishes he would have gone on to level two, though.

Very sad for the family to lose a good guy, but there are worse things than death. I hope they have the support and comfort they need.

The closest I ever got to one was when I went to the royal armory in Leeds, England. They had a cool demilled Bren gun there that was turned into a qualification range simulator.

Love to have a Bren gun, but would rather have the real slim shaddy,  the ZB vz 26 ( I have even have a pic on my HD of one converted to 7.62x39 using AK mags).

why? Bren is a contraction of BRNO and Enfield

The Bren is a modified ZB vz. 26. Sort of how the m1903 is a modified Mauser.

I see what you mean though.

The one photo at the range is definitely one I built...

If I were not so distracted by the "shooter" I might have been able to identify that one as well...

They take a crap load to time to put together (a compliant semi)...figure on about 40-60 man hours at a minimum...as far as calibers go there are alternatives such as 7.62x54R and .308 and others have been done.  IMA parts are as posted a 50/50 chance of buildable.  The real issue is where the torch went.  If its cut through the locking shoulder/ mag catch area...forget it.  Trunnion bore...forget it.  It CAN be done, not cost effective.  CNC has been tried, but the $2K+ price per stripped receiver (2005 price) was not cost effective.

Bubbles has one, ask her to show pictures.... Oleg Volke took them....

I had a Mk II rebuilt and converted by Project Guns recently, very happy with the end result. I used an IMA kit and was lucky with the torch cuts. The only downside was the 5 month wait to get it back and fondle it.

Found the build thread I was talking about. If you haven't seen beltfedleadhead's build this is worth taking a look.
Restoring a Bren MKII LMG and magazines (lots of pics)

Thanks for the link. I'm still trying to find a parts kit. Other than IMA.

We should be able to buy stuff like this in the US, there's no reason why not.

ETA...I know that the canucks can't either, but I do pray for the day that we can see these prices.
