We we haven't had one of these threads in almost 12-hours .... I've been here 20-years, in the General Discussion for about 17-18 of those as moderator for a while and staff forever since. What's not changed are the rules hear (much). Users who think it's acceptable to violate rules 15 and 20 times have been around since the 1990's. They were just one or two years on the site when they got booted for failing to follow the community standards. Now it's THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT because it's now guys who have been here many many years and established themselves and made friends. They didn't think enough about the community nor their friends here to actually follow the rules. There might have been a 1-2% advance in the forum's rules (waiting for you to point out the egregious and heinous suppression of your ability to post here) in the last 20-years all due in reaction for something, shall we say, not good here? In the close the 6000 or so reports I've handled the majority of them I've done NOTHING. The person reporting doesn't understand the conduct code nor the reasons behind the rules. Of the remaining minority of reports a majority of those get an edit and a poke i.e. [personal attack removed - Paul] which leaves that minority of a minority who get warnings. A comment like "Fuck you Nic***83 and hope your mother fucking good-for-nothing, inbred family dies of painful cancer" is not going to get a simple edit and have a nice day. That's going to draw my attention and a well needed time-out. So beyond giving knocks upside the head, being issued warnings, and timeouts we're out of tools. So if you've been knocked upside the head and continue to run your mouth you're going to find yourself awarded some warnings (which are a warning) and possibly some timeouts. Once you get a few of those and prove to us you don't care about our communities rules then you're in the >1% of people that earn a lock and that makes you a special kind of knucklehead. After the 4th or 50th time it's clear we're having difficulty communicating or you don't fucking care. We have run out of discipline at that point and either have to put up with the person's nonsense or not. Normally we choose not to. It seems what the majority of the 20-30 threads on this subject are asking for really is for the gentlemen's club to become more like a drunken locker room. Go over there ---> and throw poop at each other, call each other names, insult family members, disrespect each other, get someone beat up or even shot ... and let the lawyers clean up your mess. But count me out. And I'm fine with that. View Quote |

I still like it here but I also don’t post very much. GD is like /b/ without so many dick pics: if you can wade through all the bullshit there is great stuff to be seen on here.

If it's not thread topics, it's the death by a thousand cuts of our best members whose political ideologies don't fall in line with the Ministry of Truth's group think. The recent passing of Bradders, has really brought home to me personally how many great members this site has driven away. The pattern is clear and irrefutable, the pattern of banning only helps the leftist blue_troll agenda. This site is very quickly becoming a socialist gun website. That is something that I want nothing to do with. I don't even consider myself a conservative, I just don't want to associate with socialists or socialist sympathizers. I first discovered this site, in the early 2000s. I read the content on here for 4-5 years before I even got an account to begin posting with. I wasn't drawn to this site because of guns. Frankly, unlike many here, firearms for me personally are a very small part of my life. I was drawn to this website because of: 1) The members and their amazing depth of knowledge, varying opinions and life experiences / advice. 2) The free exchange and analysis of ideas, concepts and theories. 3) The humor and banter that we once COULD have with each other. 4) The sense of community we once had. Let me explain this, there would be members calling each other some awful things online when they disagreed, but like the grown men we are, we would be over it 15 minutes later and helping each other with a build, or listening and advising each other about family or work problems. It's a fact a life that men bond with each other through conflict. Some of the members I like the most are guys I got into some really heated debates with. Men lose their cool every once in a while during heated debates. That's ok. That's all part of the process. We can't do this anymore because someone catches a banhammer in the bootyhole for something very benign and healthy. The incremental censorship over the last 10-12 years has destroyed almost all of what makes ARFCOM, ARFCOM. We need less rules not more. Unless something massive is done to alter the course of this website, myself and a huge number of other members will be gone. I will have nothing to do with a socialist gun website. View Quote |

If he's gone can we use this thread for stuff like recipes? View Quote Ingredients600 grams beetroot grated 150 grams onion diced 250 grams carrot grated 500 grams cabbage shredded 600 grams potato diced 2 cloves garlic 2 tbsp tomato paste 2 tbsp vegetable oil 1 tbsp ground cumin 1 tsp cardamom 2 bay leaves 1 tsp thyme 1 tsp coriander dried 1 cube vegetable stock Instructions In a large pot, add water and let it boil. Then add half of the grated beetroot, cumin and cardamom and cook until beets become soft. In a pan, add oil and cook onions until they're soft and translucent. Then add the garlic and cook for one more minute. Add the grated carrot, and cook until the carrot is soft and tender. Add the rest of the beetroot, followed by a 200 ml of either water or the beet soup that's being cooked in the pot. Add a vegetable stock cube to the liquid for extra flavour, along with the tomato paste. Cook the vegetables for a few minutes until the beets become soft. At this point, you can remove the garlic cloves if you like. I usually just leave them. Add the shredded cabbage to the pot, followed by the rest of the spices and let it cook until the cabbage becomes semi-tender. Then add the potatoes, and cook for 10 more minutes. Finally, add the sauteed vegetables from the pan to the pot, cover the pot and cook until the potatoes are soft and tender. Serve with a dollop of soy yogurt (you can use Smetana or sour cream if you don't follow a plant-based diet). |

Traditionally, conservatives are the type who invoke censorship, not progressives. View Quote There’s been an awful lot of censorship over the years in America because something was seen to be “sinful” or “indecent” by the “decent, god fearing, moral majority”(conservatives). Edgy art, rude language, drug use, nudity or even just suggestive behavior, etc. The radical censorship efforts of the American left is a relatively new thing, at least on the mainstream scale that it’s currently happening on. Go back a few decades and take a look at what kind of things were being censored in American culture, though. I’m not sticking up for the left in any way, shape, or form. Their efforts at silencing any and all dissent are inexcusable. But they’re not the only wannabe censors at work in America. The sad truth is that the majority of Americans of all political stripes really don’t understand or like the First Amendment and would gleefully silence anyone that they disagree with if given the opportunity. The left is just having better luck with it lately. |

I think of that place an ARFCOM grave yard. Memorial to the tarded if you will. They should probably find some better SME's. View Quote Full disclosure: I used to love the place when I joined nine years ago and it was all about training, and serious equipment. Now it's just crickets chirping on a good day, and trolls attacking members over the slightest thing. I can't tell you how many threads get locked on a regular basis because the most innocuous thread turns into a shit storm of insults and unbridled incivility. I just got sick of being the butt of a lot of it. Add to that the mods who tell newbies "do a search before starting another thread" and then when they find an older thread and post to it as instructed, they're made fun of for "necroposting." Well, you can't have it both ways and I said so publicly over there. I almost think they don't want any new posts unless it's really something earth-shattering. I just detect a desire not to have much new activity over there. That part might be my imagination, but they sure don't encourage novice participation (this they have admitted). Trouble is, you can't grow a website that way. I probably should have left the place a few years ago. |

What what? Socialist website? I honestly can't tell if this is a joke or not.
As for censorship (which has nothing to do with socialism--again, I'm still trying to figure that one out), ARFCOM is quite possibly the LEAST censored hobby forum I've ever been a part of. |

To be terribly clear, this is BS. OP has, in the past several days been more than willing to accuse me of being a ROLCON for having a different, far less nationalist, view of conservatism from him here, announced that FDR engineered World War 2 here, and has a profile that quotes Enoch Powell’s infamous (and often regarded as blatantly racist) “Rivers of Blood” speech. I post this not to break the rule against harassing another poster for past posts, but to bring up specifically and relevantly to this thread that OP is very willing to be exceedingly provocative, and is still posting here, unbanned and (so far as I know) unthreatened. I have no idea what brought this on, but given the above, I have no clue how he thinks this place is turning into a socialist hellhole. My $0.02, for what it’s worth.
