Americans are about to get a staple burger from the Australian McDonald’s menu – and it’s fair to say, they’re losing their minds.

The burger giant just announced the Double Big Mac would be sold for a limited time across its US stores from January 24.

I worked at McDonald's in high school in the 90s and we had this was on the regular menu for quite some time iirc.  They never mentioned anything about Australia though.

I'd rather have the Denali Mac made with QP patties.

So, it’s the same size as the precovid/ shrinkflation Big Mac.

Looking at that picture and using the sesame seeds, tiny onion pieces, and pickle slices for scale that burger is about the overall same size as a normal burger from anywhere else.

My daughter & I each got a single hamburger from McD's this past weekend.  We were out running errands and hadn't eaten lunch but wanted something small to hold us over until dinner.  Holy hell those things have gotten small.  It had been a while but I don't remember them being that small.  More shrinkflation I guess.

"It's unclear what the Double Big Mac will cost as of now. When it launched in 2020 it cost $5.49, but with inflation we wouldn't be surprised if it costs more this go-round. For context, a regular Big Mac costs $6.29 today."

So they are going to be making it like they used to when it comes to patty size.   The current Big Mac is a joke, basically patties from a double cheeseburger was 4x the bread, some lettuce, and dressing.  Not sure why anyone would order it unless they just really like eating bread.

This!

My standard Bic Mac order is "extra meat" - for a buck they put an extra patty on it, and it makes the whole thing seem less bready and saucy.  And because of high turnover and seemingly even lower skilled help than usual these days, I sometimes get two extra patties.

The extra beef is probably the healthiest part of the burger.
They have shrunk the patties so much I order 2 triple cheeseburgers when I go.
Bring my own drink, and forget the fries, still almost $10.00.

It corrects the meat to bread ratio that has always been poor with the Big Mac.  $20 is clickbait, it'll be less than half that.

I'll try it.  Not something I do often but fast food has its place.

haha, this.

I had my first Big Mac in years a few months ago.

The should rename it the Big Bread and Lettuce sandwich, because that's the only two things used in its making.

Remove the bread, order it without ketchup or onion or tomato, it’s just a low-carb meat/lettuce/pickle/cheese/mustard/mayo bomb.

I’d eat it. I’ll go just to get one.

Is this like the micrib they announced came back but I was never able to find a single mcdonalds that actually had it?

also, I went to mcdonalds yesterday and got food for 2 adults and 1 dog.  it was fucking $35. Fuck that bullshit.

I like big macs.  But that's way, way too much.  I've been getting happy meals lately and giving the toy to my 7 year old.  It's just way too much food in most fast food "meals" now.  No wonder we are fat.

I love Bic Macs, I just skip the fries and pop, and voila, I'm not fat.  Happy Meals are a good route too, small portion.

Difference is I can drive to McDonald's in 3 minutes and be sitting down eating a Big Mac 5 minutes later.

With grocery shopping, prep, cooking, cleanup - you probably have 2 hours invested in your version.

That's why it's called Fast Food and not Best Food.

I think I'd just rather not eat. McDonald's is disgusting, the food quality is shit and get a look at the dregs preparing it. That greasy looking antifa kid was probably just scratching his balls prior to handling your food. Nope. Don't care how fast it is, no thanks.

That said, I'd eat it but it would be the only thing I ate that day.  Gonna have to walk a couple miles that day also.

A Big Mac is better if you make it w/ 1/4 patties and buns.   I've tried the Double Big Mac thing and wasn't impressed.

Next time you go to McDonald's, buy an extra Big Mac.

Take it home and put it in your closet and forget about it.

A year later when you are rummaging your closet for spare change, take the Big Mac out and eat it.

It will still be edible.

I remember those being a thing in the 90's as well.

As a kid I'd get a Big Mac with my happy meal in the late 80's, I wonder why I ended up fat.....

I think I've eaten at McD's less than 10 times in the past decade. Six or seven of those times was when my son was born in 20' and I had few options around the hospital during their weeklong stay. Their food is garbage tier lately, especially since they got scared of trans fats.
