Probably the most ridiculous such theory I ever heard was on this site. In short, most stories of UFOs have been recorded since Kenneth Arnold's sighting of 'flying saucers' after World War Two.

A theory posits that Earth and humanity has no history from before this time. That it was all made up by aliens. Humanity represents the absolute dregs of various alien societies and we are all sentenced to stay here on earth for the duration.

Whenever someone sees a UFO, that's just a prison bus dropping off a fresh batch of inmates.

About the moon landing: I think we went, but since they truly didn't know if things like cameras would work on the moon, I do believe some of the photos are way too perfect and were cooked up in the studio "just in case". It was too important an event not to have everything go perfectly.

My favorite JFK conspiracy theory is from a guy who wrote a book saying a Secret Service agent had an N.D. with his AR15 and accidentally shot Kennedy with the second bullet. He evidently had his finger on the trigger with the safety off and panicked when the first shot rang out. The author of the book supposedly had the scientific data down to the gnat's ass, but his book was so dry and boring with stats and mathematical formulas that it tanked on the book market and is all but forgotten.

I voted for the moon landing because it has been a looney tune conspiracy for so long. However, supporting the 9/11 conspiracy or flat earth conspiracy are just as looney. All three should require a mental health exam. They are in a mental health category of their own.
