I had a trainee, out if nowhere, ask if I thought the Earth was round or flat. "It's an oblate spheroid," I said. I thought it was a joke. The more I think about it I don't consider Flat Earth so much a conspiracy theory as just junk science, kind of like making lead from gold, or Atlantis, or copper bracelets.
A conspiracy would imply that people are deliberately covering up something. The Flat Earthers are just wrong in their beliefs. |
