Do you know what a drone with comparable capabilites would cost to purchase, much less operate?

Large military drones aren't cheap.

Multi-role UAV are also hamstrung by steerable sensors with a narrow field-of-view.
Pilots and operators are limited to what information is obtained by the sensors.

Drones don't multitask very well.
Two dudes in a cockpit?  One flies, the other can either drop, fire, gather, or steer a sensor.  Sometimes while performing associated tasks, or even completely different tasks.
Decision-to-Act is also a lot faster with a manned cockpit.

Well, it's ugly. I mean, not 'Elephant Man' ugly; but it's not handsome.

The price is where they fail the hardest.

You could buy a Pilatus PC12 and put sensors and hardpoints on it, for maybe 6 mil.

What's the projected CPFH?

What percentage of LRU's are COTS?

That's what the little guys should worry about.

I imagine the unit price would drop a bit if bought in quantity. This would be a very smart aircraft for small countries.

It would make a good feral hog hunting platform.

I just told a friend today that if I win the lottery, I'm getting Dillon Aero to sponsor a feral hog hunting trip with miniguns, Blackhawks and Littlebirds. At a fenced-in replica of an African town called Hogadishu
