I own a SCAR. It feels very dated to use and shoot compared to an AR. I can't really describe it but just holding a SCAR feels like its 1998 and I can get a beer from a vending machine at a junkyard for 80 cents. Intellectually I know that is false but somehow a good AR just feels more modern.

unless you are using the railspace get the no profile handguards. I can still mount IR to top and the slimness makes it more manipulatable. The chonky short quad rail is what makes it feel dated, everything else is fantastic. Suppressor setting being decidedly modern.

It's the way the stock brings the bore higher up towards your face (like an HK), and the chunky furniture.

I get the different flavors of ice cream but I just don’t see the point to SCARS and Tavors when the AR does everything better and less expensively. They do look cool though.

My ARs bring me back to a time where the girls wore chokers, hip hugger boot cut jeans, and halter tops |

I would guess around 7kish rounds total in the past couple years. Zero issues. |

I couldn't afford a 17 until the past couple years and am no tier 1 operator but I fucking love my scar so I totally disagree

SCAR came out during that period when we were all obsessed (myself included) with modularity. Everything had to be a transformer capable of turning into multiple different guns with a barrel and bolt swap. All barrels had to be quick change and so yeah, for some reason we sort of forgot about ergonomics there for a bit.
AR15 is still King. I have yet to see any rifle that has convinced me it is a replacement for the AR15 and I don't think I'm just being some "boomer" type who thinks the 1911 was end all be all. There is just so much versatility with the AR platform that I just don't see anything that in my mind can displace it right now, but I am actually always open to looking at new ideas. |
