Glad others thought of 4sevens as a great light company a few years ago. I had bought a number of there units and all still work but have definitely been surpassed. Thought I was imagining them as a tier 1 edc brand. Lol
Last I remember them saying they were doing was Bluetooth Controllable/ programmable lights. Then the next year at shot show nothing just same ole stuff. The following year the same thing. After that I wrote them off as a dead brand. I need a new edc light. Got a new Olight IE3eos from the IV8888 shoot. Hate the color but so far been impressed with it for the size. It’s somewhat satisfied my search but not what I was looking for. |

I pocket carried that little CR2 light for many years. I bought the larger CR123 light, but that light was just large enough that it was annoying as a pocket carry light. That little CR2 light disappeared in my pocket. My late father-in-law used to always carry a crappy AA light with him. This was in the day before every cell phone had a light. I asked him why he carried that light. His reply was that he was in the restroom at work when the building lost power. He said it was damn tough to wipe one’s ass in complete darkness. That’s when I started carrying a light daily. |

My surefire 300 will light up anything to the woodline in the back of the house. I have a 1,000 lum streamlight stinger that reaches to the barn and up to the old house. My maglite LEDs and 6P/G3s with makoff drop ins are my every day lights. Still got some older less bright flashlights and headlamps because when I work on something up close with my eyesight the way it is right now bright lights are too bright and I can't see good. I've even still got a M3 Tactical Illuminator on a glock.

View Quote The cost to convert is worse than grabbing a olight archer or arkfeld to replace the old design. Flashlight tech is in a real good place with a lot of competition. Lots of choices. I just replaced an old stream light stylus pro that I thought was very handy until I used the microstream rechargeable. Half the size, rechargeable, lighter, just better. |

Yes. That's pretty common for those things. Heat protection / batt voltage drop, that sort of thing. I got one of these: https://www.ridgid.com/us/en/gen5x-18v-dual-power-light-cannon Takes either the batts or 12v cig lighter plug in. Works really well, doesn't dim one bit, it just blinks the light at you when the batt is about to go out. Has a dial on the back that lets you turn the brightness down. I get about ~45m of use out of my 1.5 ah batts on full brightness. It does NOT like rain or wet though. |

Flashlights over the last three decades are a great example of technologically driven deflation. Similar to TV's, cell phones and computers, their price has dropped dramatically while their performance has improved massively.

I remember hanging out at CPF in the old days when all these LED lights started to emerge. Exciting times.
I'm not suggesting this is Tier 1 but my EDC light the last year has been a Lumintop Tool 2.0. It has been great. Small, multi-mode, comes with a rechargeable 14500 (with USB-C port) and runs on AA batteries also. Came with a hat clip and a couple other accessories for $20. I have a bunch of Fenix lights and they have been good for the most part. My nightstand light is a Fenix PD35 with 18650. For many years, I just used AA lights and Eneloops but I eventually moved on to 14500 and 18650 lights. The battery performance is way better than AA and I can recharge them with my cell phone charger which is basically always with me. Part of the advancement in flashlight tech is better batteries and buck-boost circuits in the lights instead of just connecting a bulb filament across raw battery terminals. |

It's Chinesium of course, but so far so good. Amd the "500" I apparently "450" in the actual texh details. I will say it's stupid bright for such a tiny light, and that number might even be true - maybe. It's way brighter than you will expect just looking at it, I'll say that.
