"Miscast" is a little funny.  Yeah, Tom Cruise isn't Jack Reacher from the books, but Jack Reacher starring Kevin Durand isn't making over $200 million at the box office.  I'm guessing those actually making the movie think Cruise was perfectly cast.

This right here. Mortenson is a superb actor. He may not be the current flavor of the month action hero but the dude has some chops. Anyone who can't see that is an imbecile.

Tom Cruise has been miscast in several roles. I’d say he was far worse in both Rock of Ages (a musical of all things) and Interview With a Vampire.

Alan Ritchson as Reacher in the TV series was an even worse choice as Jack Reacher. Cruise wasn’t the best choice but at least he gave the character a personality. Ritchson’s version of Reacher comes across as a meat head with no personality.

he was great in interview with THE vampire.

He played it well considering the character in the books. Arrogant, cruel, and vengeful.

I was going to post that. That had to have been done just for comedic reasons and not cast by anyone who had ever read any of Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels. Just poor typecasting.
I will admit that McConaughey did a good job as Pitt. It's a shame they can't write a good screenplay for any of the Pitt series books. It could have spawned a series of blockbuster movies but what they did with Raise the Titanic ruined any chance the series might have had.

I was late to this thread but the number of people that responded to this warms my heart.
I'm surprised at the number of people that commented on the OP's post and had seen the movie or knew anything about it.

The whole Pitt series is wasted potential.  Maybe his son can do a better job of selling it.
