I can't help but think that a logo with a single feather in it would be more appropriate.  You know, after that one dude, what's his name?

If you must do the skull & bones thing, why the heck not just do the Jolly Roger?

That Macaroni guy?

Funny.

Carlos Hathcock II.  A hell of  a sniper.... although I don't know that he ever bothered with a M14 (but he did use a M2 50 cal with a scope mounted on it for  a while!)
93 confirmed kills, including a NVA general.

Yup, that would be the guy.

Now, SA already has a line of rifles named after him.  That's fine.  Can't go near that.  But still, they could probably take their existing text and just replace the Totenkopf with:

There's pretty big difference between two letters in the same style and a DIRECT FUCKING COPY of the logo.
Especially when the company itself admits that Mr. Ron Smith himself loves it and appropriated it for himself.

I'll do it for people...

The Afrika Korps
(AKA "Nazis")

US Palm
(A US manufacturer of armor, vests, etc.  I think relatively recent.)

USMC in Iraq
(IIRC they did this in 1991, and again in 2003)

Some guys who really like VW
(Recent)

You'll notice two things:
1. Lots of people thought that the Afrika Korps symbol looked pretty damn cool and decided to copy it.
2. None of them did an exact copy/paste with the swastika.  They all played with it a bit.

ETA: This is an example of "LOL!  Kicked your ass, now we're stealing your shit!".

The Scout Sniper thing is another fuck up.

Did they REALLY think they weren't going to get a shit storm for using that as a symbol of their unit? It doesn't matter if it's not exactly identical - its pretty fucking close - close enough.

SEI is using an exact copy, line for line, of a well known SS symbol.  That particular symbol is associated with the SS as a whole, as well as the 3rd SS division in particular.
(ETA: Watch what you say about them though, or they'll sue you.)

The Scout Snipers made a flag featuring an exact copy of the SS 'runes', well known for being stamped pretty much all over everything the SS touched.

My reply:

have you ever stood in a place where the SS murdered people? I've stood against the wall where people who wore that skull with pride machine gunned innocent from all over Europe. The 9th Fort in Kaunas Lithuania. It makes an impression on you, seeing the pockmarked concrete walls. I tried to imagine what it would have been like, to be helpless, to have the last thing you see is a man in an SS uniform pull the trigger on an mg-42. It is a place of unspeakable evil, a place that you feel the evils of the past stabbing their knives into your very soul, a place where evil triumphed and freedom burned.

To compare the confederate flag to the symbol of the SS is ludacris. To suggest that you are being some kind of culture warrior against the politically correct leftist crowd by using this symbol is equally absurd. It has nothing to do with being tough, or bad ass. THOUSANDS of AMERICAN servicemen gave their lives to defeat this kind of evil, and you are branding your company with a symbol they fought, bled, and died to rid the world of, to prevent it from taking more lives. Shame on you, you are as foolish as you are ignorant. Our honored dead, the men who gave everything to stop this evil at places like Bastogne, Malmady, and Normandy are rolling over in their graves as we speak. Your "point of view" is an insult to every american solider who ever laced up a boot from 1941-1945. Why not pick a rising sun, or a hammer and sickle? I will tell you why. The fact is, like it or not, symbols have meaning, and the totenkopf will be forever linked with murder of innocents, death, destruction and oppression.

I love it when people rock nazi symbology and then Pull the whole "but it's a historical symbol used by bhuddists, and the incas, and the celts, etc , etc".

But it's the ONLY ancient symbol they seem to know about.  And they only use the "ancient symbols" that the Nazis had co-opted for their own.

Kind of a thin and transparent excuse.
