I have a couple of 100-round boxes of CCI CB Long and one of CB Short. Bought them in the 1980s.

It was damned good ammo, and cheap, too.

Speer/RCBS made some (38 cal) primer-only plastic shells & bullets too, but cleaning was a nightmare.
Or do they still make those?

Sheee-ot, we used tor triple.

1: the peddler
2: the guy on the handlebars
3: the guy standing on the back axle nuts (way before pegs came into vogue), holding on for dear life.

also "bumper sliding".  It's when it snows and they haven't plowed the roads yet, hang out by a traffic light or a stop sign.  when a car comes up and stops you squat down and grab the back bumper.
The driver can't see you so they just go, bringing you for a slide as far as you can hang on.

works good with old shoes with no tread. they slide better.

You had to listen on the radio instead.

I went with a buddy of mine and his dad in 1968 or so and saw the race in a movie theater on a close circuit TV deal. Bobby Unser won the race.

Sucked when you pulled the tab off without opening the beer. Pretty sure there was a trick to reuse the tab in that situation.

Patriotism. Love for the country. Weirdos were on the fringes of society and not runing society. Dress codes for employees. People fleeing communist countries. People being shot or jailed for attempting to leave communist countries. Somehow, people from China can defect to the U.S. today with no problem ...almost as if China is sending them here for a purpose.
I was preschool age when the bi centennial was celebrated in 1976. I recall EVERYTHING being red, white, and blue with a '76. I just watched Smokey and the Bandit which reminded me of it (the scene when the Bandit is propositioned to make the beer run). Cups had '76 and stars/stripes.
Edit to add...also remember rifle racks in the back windows of trucks. CO was red. CA could elect a R governor. PA could elect an R governor. People on drugs were seen for what they are...manipulative,desperate, and effed up in the head. Smart kids would avoid you if you were doing drugs.
