Yeah I know there's a million posts like this, ignore it if you can't take two minutes to post something snarky...
... but this pandemic is gonna be like WW2 or 9-11 where the world inexorably changed and would never be the same again, isn't it? ...A major history event that turns civilization in a whole new direction. Just coming to grips with how big the problem really is. |

Well we will see if this comes around again later this year or next year

I hope so,
We’ve been headed in the wrong direction for some time. Not saying the course correction will be the right one, but there’s a possibility. |

Socialism is super hot right now.
So maybe we get two scoops o’ dat. |

Once the war with China kicks off, things will be much different for those that survive.

@chango78
IDK why, but I found myself thinking about you yesterday. Just wanted to know how you're doing? |
|
The world won't change, for now.
The government is slowly controlling more and more of your life, just like always. They just got lucky and took a nice chunk all at once. |
|

I suspect things will go back to the way they were for the most part. The people who pay the politicians have no interest in things like M4A or UBI so there will be a brief push which will then be killed by people saying it's "too much too soon after the recent economic turmoil".
People may be more conscientious about wearing masks when they're sick and the stigma will be gone. That's about it. |
|
I hope it becomes impossible for us to do business with China and things are manufactured here
That is probably wishful thinking. You would also think it would open people's eyes so they live more simply and save. Eventually I expect things to go back to our normal over spending keep up with the jones way of life Humans forget to quickly we have Muslim in our government after 9/11 to me that is ridiculous |

The world is always changing, we're only here for a short time of it. You can't change it so just learn what you can and enjoy the ride.

View Quote I think people have been conditioned to think of the SHTF or TEOTWAWKI as a sudden, definable event that will force survival onto people. I think that should the aforementioned occur, it will be a slow burn of disease and war, that slowly depletes resources, reserves and essential personnel. The result would be a new "dark age" where society continues on, but the flame of liberty and ingenuity become dimmed for a generation or more. Instead of leather clad bikers attempting to steal your supplies, it will be well fed and guarded bureaucrats that steal your family's wealth through accelerated means testing, anti-hoarding laws, suspension of civil rights through state of emergencies that become more frequent, with each one lasting longer than before. |

Wasn’t this on an episode of Doomsday Preppers?
The “experts” said the odds of a global pandemic was slim & not likely..... Maybe I’m misremembering. I always figured we were past-due for a meteor or comet, not that i prep—just follow statistics. But yes, things won’t be the same |

View Quote I don't think he is asking if things will get back to normal like sales, businesses, the economy, etc. Yeah eventually it should be relatively back to normal. I think he is asking if it is going to bring permanent change to the world the way 9/11 did, and I think it will. Government isn't going to waste an opportunity to seize more control and power, and right now people seem happy to get it to them. They aren't going to give it back. |

Go find an old cemetery from the 18th or 19th century and read headstones. Sometimes they listed how people died. You'll be surprised to find cases where mother, father and young children all died with a few years of one another. |

From now on everyone will have an extra case of TP in the house. It will be known as the Corona rolls.

the years from 1950 to 2000 in America are probably the best years mankind has ever had it and even those years are plagued with problems.
Mystery illnesses have been running through countries even ours for years where thousands die. They just list pneumonia as cause of death, it ended in pneumonia but it was probably originally a different infection. This world is ripe to be great as long as there are still people looking to do greatness. Every generation has about 40 years to make there mark. I plan on owning a M41A pulse rifle before I die, fk'n millennials better make that happen. |

2021 vaccine and most people will go back to doing what they do.
For the most part being assholes in general . |

I don't for a second believe "things will never be the same" beyond the tautological sense of the phrase.
Things will get back to normal sooner rather than later. And better, because we are going to home source a lot of stuff that we've been paying China for. All of the infrastructure is in tact. All of the people are still there. UNlike WWII/WWI we are not leveling cities by the dozen, ruining infrastructure or killing tens of millions of people. We will be fine. |
|
It won't be until China knows it's not OK for this to happen to the world be it by accident or on purpose. Until they are painfully sanctioned in some deep manor it will never be the same for the USA.

It’s time to repent our sins and turn back to God. I did personally after being gone for 30+ years, I suggest everyone do the same...

Toilet paper will be considerably more expensive, even if this all settles down. People will be afraid of catching shit off their own shadows for decades to come.

for those who think "things will never be the same", it would be helpful to know what exactly you think will be different. compared to say january 2020, what are the differences 6 months from now? 12 months? 5 years? 20 years?

You are right unfortunately...
I fear I will never again be able to by ammo from walmart at scrap metal prices. I'll have to pay retail if I ever have to restock. |
