Would think a Carter house was one you lost when the interest rates and inflation was skyrocketing.

The political divide is too wide now to have empathy, it seems.

Not a bad guy. He was a VERY bad president.
I still remember staying up to watch election night when Carter got blown out. The phone started ringing when it became obvious it was going to be a bad night for the dems. The unionista Pennsylvania dems in my family were horrified. Then a couple hours later the socialist Finns were horrified that America had elected an actor. |

Creepy. A google image search of that pic returns nothing. Almost like it is a vanishing mist..........................

Like a conspiracy? |

Quoted: God willing we'll all be that age at some point. God rest her soul and bless President Carter. I don't think I ever agreed with that man on anything political, but he wasn't like the leftists of today by any stretch and is an honorable man. View Quote I used to think that too. But I've talked to a few guys who've worked his details. He gets very touchy with the young girls, among other pervy things. |

Quoted: Life is a vapor. James 4:13-16 [13] Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”—[14] yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. [15] Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” [16] As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. View Quote A similar reminder (albeit a bit darker) that takes the form of a post-it note on my work monitor: Psalm 103 15The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; 16the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. For most of us, it may be only a generation or two for this place to "remember it no more." |

Quoted: He's probably one of the most openly religious and Christian presidents we've had in the past century. (And actually got mocked in the press for that, if you can imagine a time back when the press would do that against a Dem.) Never agreed with him politically, but Carter is as much a deep state outsider as Trump, and his treatment shows it. I don't doubt that his faith was legitimate, or that he wanted what was best for the US in his time, unlike current members of his party -- it's just that his politics were ill-informed and misguided, and like many he was an unwitting puppet of the deep state. Quoted: Like someone here said long ago, I believe he loved his country. View Quote I agree. Unlike every democrat that came after him. His presidency was Peter principle writ large. Most of his failures would have been overlooked if he would have bombed Tehran until it bounced the day the hostages were taken. Failure to respond to that event was unforgiveable. |

He will not be around much longer. I saw it with my parents. Right after they celebrated their 60th anniversary, Mom passed away. Dad’s stubbornness gave out after that. He passed away the next month. Same thing is happening with Carter.
I didn’t like Carter’s politics but it no longer matters. I’ll pray for his soul. |

Quoted: God willing we'll all be that age at some point. View Quote I don't want to be. We just put my mom in the nursing home and she is just SO frail. Like one fall will take her out. I told my wife I'm going to commit attestupa or something. I don't want to just wait around to die shitting myself and barely moving. |

I think he looks like Captain Pike in the original Star Trek where he's wheeled around in a life support machine contraption

I will give Jimmy Carter credit for one thing. As someone who was a couple years too young to vote for him in 1976 I supported him and voted for him in our high schools mock election. I give him total credit for teaching me the errors of my ways and my lack of critical thinking skills. That said Fuck him and every democrat that has followed him.

It's really common for older couples who've spent most of their life together to go within days of each other.
My dad had small cell lung cancer, and couldn't attend my mother's memorial service. We got home, and he asked me, "is it done?". I told him it was, and the ceremony had been very beautiful. He passed five days later. They just don't want to be parted. I'll be surprised if former President Carter survives another week. |
