Any recommended brands/models to look at?
Thanks |

Everyone will say Herman Miller or Steelcase. I don't have either. But that's what they'll say.

Whatever it is that I'm sitting on is just fine. Office Depot IIRC...
...never had a desire to pump a bunch of hundreds into an office chair |

I‘ve bought two in the last couple of years and haven’t been happy with either. I need to try again.

The only thing I don't like about the Aeron is it's lack of headrest. I kinda want to try out the Vantum.

Refurb Steelcase leap V2 from Crandall. Mine is great!
I would like to try the Gesture at some point also. |

Don't we do the "what's the best office chair" threads on a weekly basis?

Not tier 1 but comfortable & affordable.

When one works from home it’s a good idea to spend the money on a good chair. |

I work from home, and like a mattress, something you spend that much time in, is worth the investment. |

The biggest difference between cheap chairs and expensive chairs is the durability. Cheap chairs would wear out after 2-3 years of working at home part time. Quality chairs that are built for 40 hours a week of usage will last 10+ years. Most of them come with 10-15 year warranties.
I’m happy with my Aeron chair, but opinions are all over the place. It’s best to go to a store that sells high end office chairs and sit in all the chairs and see what works for you. |

Keep an eye out for these to go out sale. I got mine for $260 w/ additional 30% back in rewards during covid. I like it equally compared to a Herman Miller Aeron I had in a prior work setting.

I've got a Leyform from 1997 still super comfortable and the materials haven't broken down. Weighs a ton.

Got tired of replacing the Staples/OD chairs every two years at home. Bought an Aeron for mine and my wife's home computer desks. That was over 10 years ago and zero problems with either. |

Steelcase Leap V2
I have an Aeron classic also and prefer the Steelcase, hands down. Both are nice chairs. YMMV Edit: we all know fb sucks, but keep an eye on marketplace. I was able to grab three Steelcase Leap V2 chairs ranging from $30-200. The $200 was mint and from 2018. The other two were $30 and $50 (both good condition but slightly older). I'm set for a long time. You'll rarely get as lucky with an Aeron. |

I sold my HM for a Steelcase Leap V2 during the forced-isolation of 2021. |

Quoted: Any recommended brands/models to look at? Thanks View Quote It's so subjective, it's probably a waste of time to suggest anything specific. You might want to provide some detail. Something like, "I want a new office chair. I am 6'2"/190 lbs, and have some occasional back issues, so I need good lumbar support. Any suggestions?" My methodology is to do a search on amazon and look at the reviews for chairs in my price range. I go through both the questions and comments, specifically looking from comments from people who are about my size, and go from there. Best of luck. |

Worked for a company in 2008 that bought $80 task chairs to work from 40 hours a week. I said the hell with it and bought an Aeron in 2008 and wrote it off as an reimbursed business expense.
I'm sitting in that same chair as I type this out. |
|
I bought one of the shaq chairs at office Depot. Sat in all they had for awhile. It's good but still not the best for long periods. Armrests are basic.

Quoted: The only thing I don't like about the Aeron is it's lack of headrest. I kinda want to try out the Vantum. Why? Besides being comfortable, at least in my opinion, they're built like tanks. The warranty is 12 years and it'll likely last even longer than that. It's relatively pricey up front, but if ends up being the last office chair you ever buy, it'll pay for itself over time. It's not like it's $20,000 unobtanium. View Quote The Aeron headrest is a clamp-on option. It works just fine. |
