So he gets shot down over Iran and steals a F-14 to get back. I wonder if the space suit is suppose to be super modern, or an old tech suit he steals when he takes the F-14?

I grew up near NAS Oceana and we watched TOP GUN as kids all the time. I even remember seeing two of the F-5 aggressors painted black fly over our house while in their landing pattern. My brother and I were in awe.

So yes I will watch this movie in the theater.

It's an SR-71 helmet, but all those are retired, and Iran isn't flying any either.  It would be tits if the US military used the movie for an Aurora reveal.

Future Navy F/A-18 replacement F/A-XX seems unlikely to require a pressure suit, but USAF's Penetrating Counter Air stealth bomber escort might.  Concept art has been out for a few years, I recall a few months ago somebody around here looking at a surge in related budgets and suggesting that prototypes might make their first flight in a year or so.  Inserting one in the movie would be tier 1 salesmanship and propaganda.  Only problem is that the Navy is supposedly not involved in PCA.  That's probably true of Aurora as well though.

Could be 100% fictional, but that seems out of character for Top Gun, at least for US aircraft.

When I did the ejection seat training we did both.

Given my choice I would take the face curtain handle every time.

If I remember g forces made it so Goose could not get to either ejection handle and Maverick pulled the lower set up front due to the same g forces.

This Mustang has a serial number of 44-12840 and was built in 1946.
It was donated to the Civil Air Patrol unit and eventually ended up in a museum in Illinois.
It was later completely restored by 1997 by Art Teeters and four years later was bought by Tom Cruise in 2001.
He renamed it to Kiss Me Kate after his ex-wife, Kate Holmes.

44-12840 (MSN 111-36123) F-6K-15-NT (P-51K)
On civil registry with Valhalla Aviation, Los Angeles, CA as N51EW.
Reported 1976 at Victory Air Museum, Mundelein, IL and 1987 with J. Kasperoff, Sylmar, CA
The P-51K was a recon version of the F-6K.
163 of the K models were modified for the recon version, the F-6K. The count for the F-6K was: 57 F6K-5NT, 63 F6K-10NT and 43 F6K-15NT.
It's one of 43.

Iceman sitting at the VFW bar in 2019 with his NAVY VET hat on, 20 years retired;

“Back when I went to Top Gun in the 80’s (when it was hard), we had this cuck SJW named Maverick. We’d all be doing man shit like hanging out with the guys playing volleyball with our shirts off and he’d be hanging out with our diversity hire woman cadre. What a pussy. He was probably gay, but back then we didn’t allow that shit. Fucking millennials and their policies. Lemme tell you about what it was like to actually fight back in the 80’s!”

Tom Cruise would have been booted out after hitting 30 years as a Captain.  Ed Harris is too damn old to play anyone who is active in the military.

It's Hollywood, I seem to remember an ancient Lee Marvin as a sargent in WWII after having been an equally ancient sargent in WWI, I seem to remember another film where a really ancient Gunny in a film that had fought at Heartbreak Ridge and who 33 years later kicked some Cuban ass in Grenada at the age of 57 or 58.
