I distinctly remember Trump saying multiple times before the election that this would be the case.  This goes back all the way to at least March.

OP is either a liar for suggesting it's 'slowly backing off' of campaign promises, or is stupid enough to believe the lying media.

Edit: Here's an article from PBS, in March.

Yeah, way before that even.  Here he lays it out in August 2015 (and then repeated over and over at rallies)

DONALD TRUMP: You know, interestingly, the wall on southern border, it's - really, if you think it's 1,000 miles but it's 2,000 miles, but a lot of it - some of it's done - it's done poorly by the way, what they have done is very poor, very poor work, a very poor job, and very -- not much of a wall. But you also have natural terrain which is automatically a barrier, which is a good thing. So you're talking about 1,000. And then you look at the Great Wall of China that was built 2,500 years ago. It's 13,000 miles. And we're really talking about something more than a little more than 1,000 miles. So it is something that can be absolutely done, not done at tremendous cost. You know, it's been costed by politicians and they came out with these outrageous numbers.

The truth is, enough could be done to stop illegal immigration through laws and law enforcement alone.   Just make it highly illegal to hire them, then enforce that law.  Most would self deport soon enough anyway.  The wall needs to be built, but more for symbolic reasons and to stop drug smuggling than anything else.

I don't care what it is that is done, as long as it's something.  He could add BP and rename them to "The Wall" for all I care.  As long as some effort is made.

He could do more by empowering the BP and adding a few then a wall would in a lot of cases.

We've been using "natural" borders for decades. What has it gotten us?

The linchpin of his campaign was that wall. If he's backing off on it then it needs to be addressed. Put aside the Trump hate and the Trump love and address the issue. The issue.

Wall the entire border. Anything less is a broken promise.

He won the election, but hasn't even been sworn in yet.  So at this point, I'll wait to see what actually happens before I sharpen my pitchfork.  I think we owe him at least that.

It would be stupid to not use natural barriers when you can.

Non-issue created by a biased media but never Trumpers will eat it up.

Nice to know our politics are a spectator sport to you, who have gone through an actual government meltdown. We're not going to have that thanks to President-Elect Trump AND THE MILLIONS OF AMERICANS WHO SUPPORTED HIS VIEWS! The Argentine government you so revile was supported by a majority of your countrymen. Too bad, so sad. Take your fucking false schadenfreude to a Venezuela thread or something, or just disappear like TargetTarget.

I don't like the man because of his years as a democrat and reality show guy with no morals or family values.
I do not hate him and I really hope he does well.
I want him to succeed, because with our leader succeeding we all succeed.
I like some of what he has done so far and much of what he has done has me concerned.
Being a cheerleader even when he does liberal shit is retarded.
We all need to hold his feet to the fire and make sure he governs from conservative principles like he said he would.
Otherwise we lose.

I'm cool with him not building a wall but beefing up border patrol. Our borders should be protected better than Area 51 and they just have a gate and agents in camouflage.

The money going to building a wall could be going to providing border patrol jobs.

We have played that fucking game for way too long. It is way past time to actually build a wall just as Israel has.
Their wall works.

Which is fine but you are jumping the gun on how he will try and prevent illegals from entering the country.

Saying, for example, that he should be criticized for not building a fence at the precipice of a 200 foot cliff is not what I would call logically "holding his feet to the fire".

It is this outrageous level of criticism that makes me suspect that you are looking at him with a very biased view against him.

Oh well, he won and I am very happy he defeated the Beast.

I disagree.  Use a combination of natural barriers, walls, fencing, and 50' tall portraits of Hillary to deter people from entering.

BUT BEFORE YOU DO THE ABOVE, you must de-incentivize people from coming here.  Cut off sanctuary city funding, and stop giving illegals welfare money.  Deport those with criminal records.
