Well shit. Woodley just 1 punch KO'd Lawler. Lawler was out before he hit the ground.
|
|
Woodley's such a bum. You could tell Dana wasn't all that excited to put the belt on him. Woodley might currently be the most disliked/meh Champion. No doubt about it, he's got power and he won the belt as clean as you could, but he's not a real fan favorite. You can just sense it on the TV. Nobody gives a shit that he just won.

I had a bad feeling that fight was going to play out exactly as it did. All Robbie had to do was get past the first rd. Tyron is going to have his hands full with Wonderboy, though.

Quoted: I disagree 100%. They're 115 lbs. Men at that weight was now power too. We watched two different fights I guess. Kowalkavicz was active the whole time and was dominatew in the clinch. Namajamas ccame back with lots of counters and both were slugging until the end. View Quote Woodley is so damn inconsistent and a we've seen him rely on his wrestling and put in pretty boring performances. I know it was a long time ago but I still remember him getting murdered by Nate Marquardt in Strikeforce. I'm not a fan of Woodley because of his personality but same goes with Jon Jones and I still love me a Jon Jones fight. Let's seen Woodley in at least one 5 round fight before all the analysts start making any absurd statements. Lawler doesn't move/cut angles/manage distance like Wonderboy. Should be a hell of a fight. |

The Rousey commercial was pathetic. I want to see Holm break her fucking jaw again.

Solid breakdown. I think Diaz could submit him quick, but his ego won't let him. He wants to put on a show and beat a puncher at his own game.
Gonna be an epic fight. |

"Conor threw nothing but thunder at Diaz, who never met a thunderstorm he didn't like."
I think that pretty much sums up the first fight. |

Outside of the top 3 fights, this isn't a blockbuster card. But Tim Means and Cody Garbrandt are fun to watch. Plus Magny v. Larkin should be fun.
That being said, I'm still very interested in the main event. It will be interesting to see what adjustments McGregor has made. I follow him and his coach on twitter. A lot of their training photos show McGregor sparring with guys who are taller and longer than him. He and his team know they have to come up with a better gameplan to adjust for Diaz's reach. I don't know if McGregor loses again but I'm fairly confident this fight will be even more competitive than the first. |

It's been a while since I've re-watched the fight but I'm still on the fence about this part. I think McGregor easily won the first round, but he was still getting hit in that first round and then obviously things changed round 2. I think he's just never fought anybody with Nate Diaz's toughness AND reach. It was a bit of a perfect storm in the worst sense. |
|
He just thought he would knock him out, and focused on that. When that didn't happen he was screwed due to overexertion.
One thing is for sure, both men are training to fight the other. I would assume with complete focus. The interview I watched for Diaz yesterday showed him to be relaxed and enjoying his new popularity. Hope he isn't enjoying it too much, but I have a hard time thinking his crew is not paying complete attention to this. If he beats him again his star status and earning potential skyrocket. |

What happened in the first round is what happens when a smaller, faster guy fights a bigger guy. Yeah, you hit him. Yeah, you hurt him. But knocking out a bigger guy... it's a different ballgame. Connor has always been the bigger guy. Now, he isn't. He'll have to adapt his strategy, or this one will end the same way the first one did. |

That's pretty much break-even on a bar tab if I go out to watch it. *The PS Plus you need to have to play games online. |
