Some of you are reading way too much into this. I'll bet the UPS guy typed in the name of the person who signed incorrectly. For instance , the guy's name is "Menendez" and the driver typed in "Melendez" M1sales misplaced the package and is now claiming they don't know who signed for it, because they have no "Melendez" working there. This has happened to me more than once. Can anyone actually read the name signed on a UPS DIAD?? The COD is the kicker. Most UPS drivers will not let a COD package leave their hands until a check is cut. I said most drivers, I know there are exceptions. COD descrepancies have to be covered by the driver himself in most instances. If the COD was paid, then I'll bet my M4 M1sales got all the packages. M1sales is totally at fault here. UPS delivered the package and got a signature. They do need to follow up and make sure it was delivered to the proper place, but businesses NEVER pay for CODs that do not belong there. Hell, half the time they do not want to pay for CODs they actually ordered. M1sales should refund the money and take up any dispute with UPS. I'll wager when all this is said and done, M1sales will have had the package all along. |

For what it's worth, this company: Texas Star Group www.texasstargroup.com made my buddy a very good deal at the last Indy 1500 gun show. He and his wife were very helpful and took the time to make sure he got exactly what he needed. They had the best prices at the show too. Edited to add that I still want to see exactly what happened to the upper once it is located. If ever. I have never had any problems with Model 1, but I have never returned anything to them either. UPS on the other hand, has shipped large parcels we addressed to Austin Texas, to Portland Oregon on two occasions. They found them and corrected the mistake. |
You brought out the BIG gun. I refer to your sig line Raise the BlackRED Flag! No Quarter! and see you are not in the habit of mercy on the undeserving. BUT To compare anyone or thing to Toady is ........ well ...... well .....they have to be VERY bad. Dont get me wrong I am not disagreeing with you it 's just such a HUGE horror to have the Toady comparison thrown on you. Shocking to say the least. I hope they make it right and get with UPS and fix the problem. I guess model 1 will never see any of my coin unless they shed the TOADY label

I purchased an upper kit from M1S last month, everything was fine as far as it went for me. I have had very poor dealings with UPS on multiple occasions. I am not claiming it is the fault of UPS nor do I blame M1S. I do know UPS regularly screws things up but I haven't dealt with M1S enough to see how good they are. I will also be watching this thread to see how things come out. I plan on ordering a pistol upper soon and this thread will affect who I decide to do business with. |
|
was loooking at model 1 sales too. Since the customer paid UPS, it is really between him and UPS to resolve the dispute. That's official UPS policy. However, model1 sales shouldn't take suck a crappy attitude about it. If I was in their place, my reaction would be "ups is trying to screw a customer - I'm going to do what I can to help them make this right". Instead, they're talking about a customer 'whining'. Just goes to show yet again, use brown, get shit on. |
I thought I was the only one who knew about that? |
I guess I did miss that. I hate weeding through these 7 page threads. Oh well, I've never really felt the need to buy from M1S, so I'll stay out of this. |
I might agree except for Model 1's "whining" comment. That's BS. Model 1 is screwing the pooch here, and needs to put things right. Gonna watch this thread for an outcome, and it WILL affect my purchasing decisions. That being said, UPS sucks goat teat. At least they're not being entirely unprofessional in their response to this situation, though. "Whining"?? It really took an azzwipe to say that while representing the company in a customer greievance issue. |
What's amazing is that I haven't spoke to them since I had UPS initiate the trace......never gave them any indication of whining or anything........did they think I was just going to forget about it when they said "I dunno...it never showed up"? Bad part is, they've got the best website around as far as ease of putting an order together. |
Yeah, where did that email come from?? Was it supposed to be released? I know in the past I've worked at places where we had a "situation" with a customer, and internally we might refer to him in a not-so-good light, but NEVER would want to actually make that public. I know it's bad but it happens. I know now, sometimes I get emails from customers who seem to have a crisis every week or so, and I'll say "Oh man it's this asshat again!!" but I don't *actually* think the guy's an asshat. ETA: I do think, though, that Model 1 should be doing more customer service-wise in this situation. Oh and for the record I have a Model 1 16" upper and parts kit I got back in '99. It's been my one and only AR until a couple weeks ago. |
My impression is that the email was a response to an arfcom member's email telling them about this thread. Not truely public, but not internal either. |
If you read the email again you will see that is was an attempt by a member to make M1S aware of a potential problem, so they could address it. An effort to HELP M1S, which they chose to ignore. Too bad for them as I sad before, add up what this one problem cost them. I am of the belief that my friends here will stand beside me when I need them. When one of them reports bad juju from a vendor, believe me, I listen. SO do alot of other people tha spend ALOT of hard earned money. M1S, step up to the plate and make things right. Don't just stand there and strike out! CH |

I have bought MANY kits and parts from M1 sales and NEVER had even the smallest problem.Somthing does not sound right here. It seems to be a "popular" thing on the internet to shit all over the compitition to boost your own sales.I wonder if.............?No........bitter,competitors would never do that ..would they? You would have to be a real asshole. All in all I have done business with them for many years with a LOT of volume and never had a problem.But...thats just me.I am waiting to see how this plays out.
|
you think that arowneragain is an "agent provacatuer" (to quote the one who's name we do not speak) that works for a competitor? I can assure you that is not the case. |

A few things to clarify here.... The email I quoted several pages ago..... A fellow board member sent that message to M1S, they replied, and said board member (who, to the best of my knowledge, has no connection to any firearms-related company) forwarded their reply to me. Other than the name being X'ed out, what I posted was exactly what was forwarded to me. The correspondence between said board member and M1S took place without my knowledge; only after the email was forwarded to me did I become aware of it. I used a debit card, not a CC, to pay for the upper. As it is, I see no need to get my bank involved in this issue. I did not get a chance to talk to UPS friday, as I was traveling. Again, my latest understanding was that they were digging through old records to find a history of signatures matching the one of the individual who signed for my package. I will re-contact them monday. Last I heard, they had at least one matching signature, and needed 2 more before they could pursue relief from M1S. Nobody from M1S has made any effort to contact me regarding this matter at any time. They have my email address, possibly my phone number, and arfcom contact options, if they want. It IS worth noting, of course, that it's entirely possible that they really didn't recieve the package. At any rate, I regret that they sent that email......very poor form on their part. I'm still without money or an upper (I'd just like my money back....forget the upper!) but I haven't pressed the issue with UPS because, despite the appearance of slow response on their part, I get the impression that they honestly want to get to the bottom of this issue....maybe not so much because they're all that great so much as because they honestly think M1S is doing something shady. Either way, they do appear to be working on the problem. I'll expect to hear some progress from them on monday. |

I used a debit card, not a CC, to pay for the upper. As it is, I see no need to get my bank involved in this issue. Hey, disputing a debit card payment is wayyyy easier than disputing a credit card payment. I have probably had to dispute 3 or 4 charges this year due to internet vendors double-charging and such, and doing so is very easy. Don't get screwed, friend. If this is not resolved, play some hardball (it appears M1S and UPS are doing so) and reverse the charge. You can always send them their money later if/when things are resolved. |
Well now.... looks like I won't be buying a $450 16" CAR kit from Model 1 Sales afterall. I had planned to purchase one of these kits for an upcoming AR15 build, but I think I'll use another company whose employees DON'T accuse their customers of whining because they got the shaft. It looks like Model 1 can shizzle mah nizzle if they want money from me. |
First part of your reply was very good and to the point. Second part sounds like an immature kid. They may copy this thread and use it as a GREAT tool for customer service training. Dont make yourself look like a putz. Just my $0.02 I deleted your second part in my quote in case you may want to delete yours from your original post. Just so we lose any trace it ever existed. |
Good point. I've made the necessary corrections. |
|
I've got another kit I want to purchase, I was going to go with M1S, but not anymore. I've purchased a bunch of stuff from ADCO, and I'll make damn sure I stick with them. At least you can get excellent customer service there. Not to mention, they have a great product line. |
|
Now that the ban is over I was thinking of rebuilding my lower with a preban upper. I don't have to worry about not giving my money to MS1 though, because like I said, I learned awhile ago they just did not have good customer service. J&T is the way to go for kit guns. |
ditto about ups...they suck completely. It's a tie between them and USPS. Always have a problem with both. Fedex has been the only reliable company I have ever dealt with, and I order alot of stuff.
|
Not to hijack this thread, but I see where everyone is saying where they'll go instead, but I don't see anyone mentioning M&A. Aren't they ok? thats where I got my M4gery kit. I'd bail on this deal and get credit from the bank ASAP. Life is too short to wait for a kit.

Well you lost another potential customer that was thinking about sinking money into your business. I understand that things happen. But when something does go wrong and you call your customer a whiner because of it thats completly out of line. Saving a few bucks isn't worth the risk of doing business with a company with such poor customer service. Stuff like that only blows up in your face ![]() But great job on losing customers M1S. It seems thats what your best at. So take comfort that you can do at least 1 thing well, such as it is.
