Yep. It was one of the weapons I qual'ed within about 1992 when we did the exchange thing.

Whenever we would convoy with the Germans (late 80's) they had troops on dirt bikes with Uzi's on their backs "scouting" for the convoy. I always thought that was cool and way better than driving our clapped out M113. At least in peace time anyway. In war time I would NOT want to be a scout on a dirt bike... |

Looks like they're Tankers. Yup, they are from the Bundeswehr’s 33rd Panzer Battalion. Quoted:
Isn't this the country that makes the MP5? Thought they would have replaced them with either the MP7 or a G36K by now. Nice to see the UZI still soldiering on. |

im surprised the germans are still using them, if i recall right isreal is to an extent and of course third world countries because its a simplistic design and cheap.

Isn't this the country that makes the MP5? Uzis were cheaper, so they bought those. It is called the MP2 in Germany. Though it is being replaced by the MP7. SF and police units seemed to use plenty of MP5s though. |

Are those Singaporean tankers? How does Singapore like their Leopards?

Weren't grease guns issued up until the mid 90's in the U.S Army?

Are those Singaporean tankers? How does Singapore like their Leopards? Yes. We like 'em. It's a lot better than the ancient AMX-13 (SM-1) they replaced. |

Looks like they're Tankers. Yea guess its a PDW. No sense in replacing something like that. |

Weren't grease guns issued up until the mid 90's in the U.S Army? Yes, they were. During my time in the mid eighties, tankers, and mechanics were issued the M3's as their primary weapon. I'm not sure when they stopped being issued and replaced by the M-16. |

I didn't know they were still in service either.
A girlfriend bought a stock of magazines years ago from Germany because, if I recall right, they were taking the Uzi out of service. _________________________________________________________________________ ("I thought you were dead."--frequent line in "Escape from......" movies, (w,stte)) |

in what language do the two militaries communicate with one another? English?

Ze Germans use Uzis and Serpas? Oh shit, GD's gonna explode.
Quoted:
English is an official language of Singapore, so I'd expect the Germans to use it.

Well, when they are finally rid of these nasty beasts, I'll take one

Anybody else catch the fact that the Germans were carrying their pistols in SERPAs and using the paddle holster on a pistol belt instead of the belt slide model?

That'd be fun as hell to drive up to the firing line at Knob Creek. Kharn |

German armor has a certain look to it, kind of WWIIish.

How could they even ever wish to be combat effective with all those GODDAMN HANDS IN THEIR POCKETS?

Quoted:
Are those standard eye protection for the SAR? I noticed a lot of them guys were glasses. Singapore unfortunately has one of the highest myopia rates in the world. In a study done by the late Prof. S.J. Chew on the pattern of myopia in 320,409 Singaporean men aged 15 to 21 (SMJ 1988 Vol29:p201-211). The findings were that “9% of no primary education needed glasses. 85% of A-levels and above needed glasses. Not only was there a greater incidence but the degrees of myopia were higher in the A-levels and above.” |

Bundeswehr Uzis were clapped out back in 1990, and probably rattle even more nowadays.

Weren't grease guns issued up until the mid 90's in the U.S Army? Utah ARNG tankers brought them to Bosnia in 2002. |

Germans using SERPA lvl 2 holsters WTF? You should see how many Serpas there are in use with M9 carriers with the US Army... |

The UZI is so bad ass. Wish I still had mine Having owned an IMI uzi, mini uzi, micro uzi, MP5, MP5k and the rest of the HK91 family. I can tell you that the uzi is what I would rather go to war with. Love my MP5, but the uzi has a better trigger, can be carried loaded with without the safety on thanks to its grip safety, and is stupid simple to operate and breakdown. The uzi is less complicated and more reliable IMHO then an AK, and probably easier to build. |
