When I came back one time from a tour overseas, I literally got to the states, got my leave papers at the base, got in my car and drove home. When I got into West Virginia I had a county sheriff pull me over for an expired inspection sticker (It had expired the month before). I showed him my leave papers, explained that I had been stationed overseas for nearly a year and told him I planned on having the inspection done that day or the next. He didn't give a shit. Still gave me the ticket. That stung, and still stings to this day. View Quote That is seriously fucked up. |

Quoted: I've had problems with VA inspections in the past. GF just had it with her little GTI. Shop owner called and said she failed due to headlight adjustment and that it was $45 to fix. She refused and showed up within 5 mins (was across the street at grocery). When she arrived and was told they did the service without her consent she said she wouldn't pay it. To which the guy replied, "well what would you be willing to pay?" After a moment of silence in dis-belief, he nervously said that it's ok, don't worry about paying. I get the feeling this scam opens the doors up to a lot of this sort of thing and apparently abuses by the sanctioning-end as well. View Quote The name of the shop is Integrity Auto. |

I used to live in a state where LE could not enter the parking lots and ticket people unless the owner gave them permission.
We used that a time or two with the 3 wheelers. Just stop in the parking lot of the little store and buy a couple sodas and some crackers and cheese/candy bar and sit on the bench outside and wave at the cops (they were sitting in the parking lot of the local doctor's office waiting on us to leave. The store owner told us that they had told the cops to stay off their property unless they were coming in to buy something. The ATV folks bought a lot of gas and food/drinks at the store before going on a ride, so the store owner was protecting their customers. When the drinks/snacks were gone my brother-in-law would call his wife, she'd bring the pickup truck down and we'd load the 3 wheelers in the truck, wave at the cops and ride home. Evidently, down here, the cops could have just come onto the business owner's property and wrote us tickets. |
