Why doesn't he have a statue more prominent than Lee's in Richmond, anyway? Was Richmond embarrassed of him? |

This is a tough one for ARF.
GD wants El Jefe to roll main battle tanks through the streets of American cities to run over protestors and shoot Americans to keep them from destroying things but on the other hand wants to cherish statues of men who literally lead an armed insurrection against the people of the United States of America, killing thousands upon thousands of service men, burning down cities, ending businesses and crippling the economy. .... |

Well fuck.
Guess I need to get off my ass and do that photo shoot along Monument Ave like I've been planning. |

Its wrecked with graffiti and not the clean historic attraction it was. I seriously doubt any money will be spent to clean them before they are removed. |

Erase all of the signs of history and pretty soon it can be just whatever you want it to be.
People without a history are untied. This can be good or bad. Personally, I think these statues should remain up and we should actually educate our children on -all- of the issues that made our country what it is today. Running and hiding from upsetting things is not the answer. |

Some ignorant folks in here. You can scold Lee for going with his State, but he was more of a human than Grant ever was and unlike Grant freed the family slaves years before the war even started.

So if we erase all the history of slavery and the civil war, does that mean we can deny they ever happened?

View Quote There is a lot of irony at play here, indeed. The neoconfederates can never decide if they hate American assertions of power or not. As in most cases, it comes down to whether they think their tribe is controlling the power. |

If you think they aren't coming for revolutionary war heroes next you're fucking foolish.

Why doesn't he have a statue more prominent than Lee's in Richmond, anyway? Was Richmond embarrassed of him? The great seal of the Confederate states of America was the richmond statue of Washington on his horse. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seal_of_the_Confederate_States People's main loyalty was to their state. Because in the early years of the USA, people thought of their state as it's own country and that the federal government tied these different countries together. Before the USA was created, the colonies where not unified, each colony was governed as an independent. So. The people of Virginia who the majority of the population's family had been in Virginia for a long time, felt like they where Virginians first. So when the Confederate call to arms was heard to repel Lincoln's invasion, it shouldn't surprise anyone that Virginians answered the call. |

I would cut that fucker in half while suspended by the crane and watch the two halves crash into the ground. If that won't start a war nothing will in VA. |
