I’ve had a bunch of daily drivers that were pre-air bag. I’ve also been to a bunch of fatals.

That dying like men thing looks better on a sticker than it does on asphalt.

I was actually curious because OP is clearly dropping a few bucks on this and I didn’t know if adding air bags is a viable restomod thing or not.

My first car was a 65 Mustang that didn’t even have seat belts. As I’m sure you’re aware, that’s just a reality you have to accept with these cars.

Serious answer: given the construction of the steering column, wheel, and dash, putting airbags into these trucks would be a very serious undertaking that would border on the impossible.

Those gawdy bling bling gangster things do not belong on a classic such as that. Those look like the wheels someone puts on squatted trucks.

I do not care what happens under the skin, I just hope you leave the body original and the interior as original as possible.

The 70's trucks are the best body style ford ever made on a truck. 79 was the last great year. Everything since has been bleh.

I like it, but also wonder why 5.0 vs 7.3.  But either way is cool.

There isnt a plug and play option for the 7.3 yet. Its been done with a hacked up factory harness. I am aiming pretty high on the for this one so the 5.0 was the route I went. If the HP/TQ ends up lacking Ill buy a whipple.

The Coyote is plenty even NA. I don't get why people are so stuck on using an iron block pushrod motor.

+1

7.3 hasn’t been around long enough to pinpoint the weak point that will be talked about for years but only affecting 3% of motors.

They're ok, way better than the faggoty brodozer wheels you see on everything now. I think a smaller size with a more concave face would look more appropriate for the era of truck, but we all have different taste.

Looking great!  I’ve been doing restos, motorcycles, and rods for a long time. I’m amazed at the cool stuff you can buy these days to upgrade your projects.  Kewl suspensions, steering, brakes, and also good harnesses.  Best of luck.  And in the pictures I see some paint jobs that unbelievably good.  Ya Mon!!

Not to mention there are so many unknown elements as to the results of how an airbag would function in a vehicle that hasn't undergone rigorous crash testing with said airbag.
Money would be better spent on a bitchin' paint job.

I am adding 2- crossmembers at the rear on both both sides of the in frame fuel tank. No other real plans to stiffen the frame.

I assume most aftermarket tanks are aluminum as they are easier to build.

The mock up process looks great and I like your use of wood for mock up structural members....I did the same on mine.  Almost every project I work on starts with a wooden model

Keep up the great work and I like the updates
