If I rented an apartment that had a large percentage of parking spaces marked off for handicapped or EV's.

I would either have a handicapped tag or a fake plug installed on my car so I could "plug" into the charging station.

Who looks to see if a car is charging anyway if the "plug" is connected to a car in that spot.

Too many spaces marked off for different BS.

You just have to figure out if it's actually enforced or not.

My work has 20% of the parking lots make as reserved for either carpool or energy efficient vehicle parking for some green building standard.

But the front desk only enforces the handicapped parking when they call for a tow or call your desk to move your shit. No one gives a fuck about the others.

JFC, I am continually amazed at how many here support government overreach and don’t believe in a free market.

Why they should deregulate the power industry.

Or they can mandate everyone buy health insurance.

Socialist always look to the government to solve all problems, or at least throw money at the problem so they can skim their cut off the top for themselves and their people.

Only socialists? Im pretty sure a vast majority of users on this site were looking to government to solve their problems during Trumps term. I guess thats changed now?

Here's a novel idea: Why not let the market decide how many charging stations are installed?

If there's a demand for them, won't apartments offer them as an enticement to prospective renters?

Fuck you.   In America the left TELLS you what you demand.

I bet the people that think they support the free market also think the government should mandate free parking for them.

If you fail to see the problem then you are part of it. Government should not mandate these things. I will grudgingly accept building standards for safety but this is well beyond that.

You apparently failed to read and comprehend my post.  I said that I failed to understand the outrage, not the problem.  Government mandates all sorts of shit, all the time, especially in places like Seattle.  GD acting all butthurt about it is nothing but a bunch of manufactured hullabaloo.

What in the blue fuck does this have to do with Seattle mandating EV parking spots at apartments?

Boy, it's getting real easy to spot the basement dwellers in GD these days.

Of all the nonsense that comes out of the PNW, this seems fairly innocuous.

Just a new twist on rent control/land use policies.  It's one of those policies that has visible winners and many more, invisible losers.  The guy that gets to plug his EV in at his apartment will think this is the greatest law ever.  The many more people who live in apartments that won't get updated to avoid this mandate and fall into an ever worsening condition will just blame "greedy landlords".

Better than the apartments they built in Boston with multiple bike parking, minimal normal parking and then everyone moved in with nowhere besides the street to park. Which was already overcrowded before the apartments were built….

did they have incentives like tax credits prior to this?

We’re talking about the generation capacity to handle EVs. Hydro is a good setup for that. The lines are a separate issue, until you’re willing to pay for buries lines there’s not much to be done about that.

wrong again... power goes out in Lakewood, Tacoma, Puyallup, University Place.. everywhere, so that dumbass argument is busted.

Your wrong again, damn your on a roll, BPA knows they need to replace, and upgrade main transmission lines. Here’s the problem, environmentalists ball everything up for years on end in court to the point they wait for a failure and upgrade at that time. I’ll ions upon millions have been wasted on environmental impact statements, that then taken to court, rewritten, permits given, courts stays to stop and start over. It is a never ending process of getting nothing done.  We also have huge wind farms and both hydro and wind farms can’t transmit what they can generate.

Not so fast...

llinois Democrats Play Politics With the State’s Electricity

Their climate bill would raise prices and kill jobs in heavily Republican southern counties.

Power in western Washington goes out on a sunny day, a drizzly day, frosty day, or when there’s a severe 11mph hurricane….oh and when there’s more than 2 birds on a wire somewhere.

Also, the green retards in Washington also like to forget the red state to the East it has to buy a lot of “non-green” power from.

Yes, hydro is no longer green energy.

And 25% more to be EV ready.

https://www.q13fox.com/news/council-approves-requirement-for-electric-vehicle-charging-in-new-development

The new legislation requires the establishment of electric vehicle parking and charging stations in an effort towards the Council's Strategic Climate Action plan.

This means that new or remodeled apartment buildings must allocate 10% of their parking capacity to electric vehicle charging, and 25% of parking must be EV-ready (infrastructure is in place to install a charger in the future).
