My favorite is the Star Wars Christmas Special.

Wookie porn, Bea Arthur and Jefferson Starship.

Happy Life Day, gang.

Supposedly the ewoks were originally supposed to be Wookees (ewoks ..... wookees ... get it).

But, a planet full of Wookees would have cost more in the costume budget and Lucas thought adorable little ewok action figures would sell better at Christmas time.  Merchandising!

A planet full of Wookees certainly sounds a lot more badass.

I did not know that.  Would have saved that movie from the kid zone.

The empire does seem to have minor, but devastating design flaws, with large projects...

all nine are bad, but intentionally bad. These were supposed to be cheesey si-fi serials like buck rogers and flash Gordon.
pure escapism, especially the first 1977 movie.  Just out of Vietnam, Carter, opec, the best movie of the previous years was Jaws and rocky...
Lucas wanted to pop out some cheerful serials and push the edge of effects.

I enjoy all of them for what they are. not great, but I enjoy them

The Ewoks looked like miniature Australians without the didgerydoos.

In the re-releases, they CGIed the ability of the Ewoks to blink their eyes.  In the original releases, they never blinked..

this sequence still screams STAR WARS every time I see it.  It's just great.
ETA: practical effects, no CGI. Fucking Models and moving cameras.

All the movies are bad, man.

Sure, I did watch the first one 7 1/2 times in the theater in 1978, but only because it was a fun movie, the movie theater was air-conditioned, and I loved popcorn. Even as a kid I didn't think it was some kind of masterpiece.

But, yeah, Ewoks were definitely one of the lowest points.
