To preserve charcoal, you either frame it and never touch it again, or you can you spray on fixatives that will protect the charcoal. I'm using a fixative and in fact, the first layer is currently drying. I'll go back and add highlights, darker shadows, and other details then spray it again. I'll add a final layer of highlights then frame it. I get both. |
