And the ones who choked at the possibility of having to pay $600 for new tires are probably rolling with a multi-thousand-$$$ stereo with bass that will crack the damn pavement. Odds are their brakes are shot, too, as well as their alignment.

And they're also the biggest complainers when their tires wear unevenly because we did their alignment, but then they drove 25,000 miles without rotating the tires.

You forgot to mention the cost of the monthly note on the rims.

I've written a solo crash party for bald tires. Grown ass man driving mom's car.

Shit tires in our garbage climate is a major factor in many an accident.

Besides brakes, and steering control, tires are the most important safety related components on your vehicle, most likely.

It costs money to drive, and not just in gas and insurance.

While 600 dollars is no where near the end of the world for me. I absolutely dispise spending 1000 dollars on fucking tires.  So while I absolutely have the money    1000 dollars on tires does ruin my day

Went to Discount Tire yesterday to replace all four tires in my truck. While I was waiting there, I saw at least 10 more people come in wanted to buy tires for their vehicle. Every single one of them acted like spending $600+ was a complete financial disaster. Several had their credit cards declined. Several inquired about payment plans. And several others are part about coupons.  And several wanted discount tire to fix the tires for free.

Is average person really that broke right now? Replacing the tires for me was an inconvenience, however these people it was literally a complete financial disaster.

Most people in America are actually pretty poor. I'm sure most of that is self-inflicted, and I'm sure their entertainment budget takes the biggest piece of their financial pie.

Being poor in America is still better than being poor anywhere else in the world, and still better off than the average person in lots of places.

Most Discount Tire shops I have seen have been adjacent to WalMart.  I have always figured it was the same customer demographic.  For the record, I buy my tires from the local shops as the deals are better and they don't give you shit when you want a bigger tire.

So much this. And what are you doing at Discount Tires, OP - would you trust a product from Discount Parachute?

Like other product categories that are often debated, tires are just one of those things you shouldn’t cut cost corners on. Always get mine done at the dealership (and typically they are competitively priced/try to work a deal for me). 4 all-season shoes from a major brand that are specifically targeted for my vehicle, driving habits and with long life expectancy always cost me around $1K +. Have accepted it as part of TCO.

Set of Michelins I use on the the Ridgeline was right at $900 Out the door back in Jan 2019.

Priced a Set of the Exact same tire and it was Going to be Around $1200 IF he could find 4 actual tires. Told him I had tire that was newer that had to be replaced when a big ass knife blade got stuck in it going down the highway.

He said 3 was easier but still had to find 3.  I haven't heard back yet. That was Monday.

May just get a regular set of Tires will be about $650ish he said for a good set of road tires not the M+S I want and what is on it now.

Last time I went to the hockey shop they advertised payment plans for composite sticks.  The price of the sticks range from $250-$700.

$600 for 4.. is this for an ATV? looking at factory tire sizes for my truck is easily over 1200 for 4, and replacing the larger ones that are on there would be closer to 2k for 4.
