Quoted: That describes me, also. I do remember them serving a decent breakfast back in the day. Not great, but decent. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

We don’t have Cracker Barrel here, but the last one I ate at (Oklahoma) I had smothered pork chops that were delicious. This was a year ago.

Actually went a couple of weeks ago got chicken fried steak it hasn't changed. That was the first time in 10 years going there

I was eating at one every day up until mid 2020. Simply by merit of it being around the block from the motel I was at.
It wasn't bad. It also wasn't great. The place was clean and never gave me the shits... so it had that going for it. |
|
When we first moved near one I found the food decent but after a while it seemed whatever you ordered it all tasted the same. Haven't been to one in at least 8 years.

Now you can go get wasted while eating their shitty chicken fried chicken.

There was more than twenty years between my last meal at a Cracker Barrel and the one before it.
The one before was in Knoxville, TN in 2000 and I recall it as being pretty darn good. Had a wait to get in as well. The last one was last year in Wisconsin somewhere and it was just blah. It'll probably be another twenty years before I eat in one again. |
|
Ours is still great, big portions and good food - though we almost always get breakfast items
|

I like Cracker Barrel ok. The thing with them is, their menu is sort of unique from most of the other big chains.
Longhorns, Outback, Chili’s, Applebees etc, have different combinations of the same stuff. CB having a “country” menu and setting kind of sets them apart from the others. The ones I see are usually packed around meal time. |
|
I used to like them and looked forward to going there. Since Covid they pared down their offerings significantly. Probably won't be going back.
|
|
I haven't been in awhile, but I've always liked their breakfast, and the fact that you can get it anytime.
If as posted above they've dropped their hash brown casserole, they're going to be dead to me. |

I had CB catered for our Thanksgiving lunch at work, the team enjoyed it.

Only eaten there once or twice, was not impressed.
On a side note I do try to avoid chains and support smaller places. |
|
What Happened To Cracker Barrel?
Beats me. Haven’t been to one in at least a decade. And then only under duress. Truthfully, I’d rather go to my local McD’s even if CB was free. |
|
Cracker Barrel is an overpriced fake country tourist trap that happens to have a restaurant attached.
I despise that place and that stupid ass store where you have to pay your bill. |

Quoted: Only eaten there once or twice, was not impressed. On a side note I do try to avoid chains and support smaller places. View Quote I too like to support the smaller places. Many women I know hold the exact opposite opinion, however. I don’t think either opinion is wrong, just an observation I have made. |

Portions shrunk and quality is down. We stopped at one while traveling and I ended up with 2 days of ass explosions. They are trying to serve beer and wine to increase profits

People got tired of SE Ryekoff?
Inflation happens. Quantity/quality decreases along with price increases. People can't afford to eat out as much as they used to too. |
|
I don't have many options for country ham since I left the south, so they're my only option when I'm in the mood.
I also don't expect every dining experience to be by candlelight with multiple courses |
|
Meh food at a reasonable price.
They're doing quite well here. I give the wife 2 options, if she doesn't want either it's cracker barrel. Been awhile since we've had cracker barrel. |

Quoted: I've always found it to to be overpriced. The only way I'd eat there is if somebody else is paying. View Quote That's the one thing it isn't, imo. I can name the number of sit down places two can eat at for under $20 on one hand, in my ao. Now their portions do seem to be shrinking, but I never could eat all of it, regardless. You don't pick CB for a quick meal, given. Location dependent? |
|
I haven’t been in a while but I do like their pancakes and fresh fruit on top in the morning.
|
|
Got food poisoning in one several years ago. Haven't been back.

Heavy users don't care about quality at all anymore. They'll line up and consume their troughslop happily until they stroke out at 45. Why would fast food go above and beyond when they have a solid base of mindless eaters?

Someone calibrate me if I am wrong please. Their biscuits, Didn't they used to be bigger? The last time I was there I swear it was the Pillsbury Dough ones. Small, tasteless and dry.
|

I don't understand why they haven't changed their business model. You wait in a cluttered "gift shop", go to a dark dining room with dirty dingy lattice and junk on the wall, the food isn't any better than anywhere else.
It amazes me they are still in business. What's up with the lattice anyway? Who thought that was nice dining decor. |

Quoted: This. Seeing it across the board. Can't remember the last time we ate at a restaurant and thought the service was good. At best it's been mediocre. View Quote If you come to Texas most places have good service especially tex mex places. I find myself going to the same good places and asking for or getting the same servers. At most of the Mexican places if you go there a few times and give good tips you will be owned by that waiter and everyone knows who belongs to who. If your waiter is not in they go by regular rotation. I get the name of good waiters and ask for them. |

Quoted: A lot of these “restaurants” went down hill during China Virus and they’re having trouble coming back from it. View Quote the two McDonalds around here have never allowed in-store dining since, just drive-thru and pickup service... the gal at the window at one of them was telling me the owner is considering going that way forever because of all the vibrancy that buy's a single fry then just hangs out as a group starting shit.. not worth the trouble come to think of it the Taco Time doesn't allow in-store dining yet either.. I'm afraid that bullshit may have changed our society forever in various ways.. |
