As a kid we didn't get much soda. I remember we had a soda streamer in England and we made our own. I do remember getting either cream soda or rootbeer a bit growing up then when we moved to Texas when I was in 7th grade was when I really exposed to soda. Easy access being sold at school and the gas stations really close. During this time I drank stuff like crystal Pepsi, staple clear root beer, big red, sun drop, Orbitz, clearly Canadian, sobe, all sport,

Grew up in a very rural area. Whatever we could get our hands on. Cropping tobacco, the farmer would bring us an RC every morning about ten with a moon pie or pack of crackers. It was delicious.

Cream soda. The only time I got it as a kid was when we went to Florida to visit my Nana, so it was "for special."
My Grandson loves it, too. |

We never really had it in the house much but when I would be out somewhere with my dad, he always got me a Nehi Blue Cream Soda.
|
|
I loved root beer and birch beer, but they weren't readily available, so I drank a lot of Sprite.

Bright red A-Treat Cream Soda in the big refillable glass bottles.
Currently, I don't drink much soda but the Strawberry Cream Dr Pepper Zero is my kryptonite. |

View Quote Ski soda is really good. Not had it in a while. My no 2 fav behind sun drop in glass bottle with sugar. Both are much better than dew or mellow yellow. |

Up in western PA we said "pop."
Down in northern VA it was soda; Coke was used synonymously, though. We didn't get a lot of sodas as kids, but I voted Mountain Dew as my dad would occasionally bring some home and share it with us. We usually had a couple cases of generic store brands in various flavors that had to last all summer vacation. |
|
I voted root beer because it's a close second, but Pepsi was always my favorite pop.
We'd have pop on one of two occasions growing up. With popcorn for a Friday night movie or on a Sunday with menudo and tamales during football games. Mine was more of a grape or apple juice from concentrate family. |

Boomer here!!!
Didn’t drink dat cht. Koolaide for the win. Mother processed, not some damn rat infested factory. Didn’t affect our diabetes risk, because we played outside from sunrise to sunset (after the chores were done…of course). |

This summer he asked to be driven over to that A & W so we could sit there and have a meal. I hadn't been to a drive-in A & W since I was a kid. It was quite the flashback, I tell you |

Root beer. Barqs was my go to as a kid, and I loved Sprecher, especially out of the keg, when I was up north.

Big Red was my favorite through elementary school. After that I started liking Dr Pepper.
Now its just water and Yuengelingingueling flight. |

Born in 65, we didn't drink much soda.
We got Koolaid, unless I was sick, and then I got 7-up or Sprite. ETA: For a few years my grandfather drove a Carnation truck. He would bring us gallon jugs of some brightly colored drink we called "bug juice". |

How the fuck are you from Texas and not have Dr Pepper in the poll?

Can't really remember - that was 60 years ago.
But I think it was A&W root beer. I still make A&W root beer floats at home! Attached File |

I drank Coke mostly, but it wasn't an option so I went with my second choice of rootbeer. Specifically IBC rootbeer. As a kid I liked the bottle because it looked like a beer bottle, LOL.

wow; thinking back it was not one favorite - but a mix of Dr. Pepper, squirt, tonic water - tho the favorite was coke with a splash of pineapple syrup from the soda jerk at a big ice cream store.
So, the go-to would be nearly frozen tonic water during summer. |

I kinda vaguely remember it, but when I was really small ( this was probably in the latter 80s before I started kindergarten in 88), my dad would stop at some gas station and get Vess sodas in glass bottles for me. I think they were mostly orange.
