swift is a weird language. this is a legal statement:
let upsideDown: Data? = "??".data(using: .utf8)
but you can't use updateDown without unrolling it, either by force unrolling it with a bang, ala: doSomethingWith(thing: upsideDown!)
which may throw an error, or specifying alternate behavior: doSomethingWith(thing: upsideDown ?? "zomg it broke")

The old language for those devices was Objective-C. The newest new hotness is React Native which lets you write javascript which gets transpiled (God, I hate that word) into Swift/Obj-C for iOS and Java for Android apps. |
